              		IRON STOVES, September 1941

			A Scenario for Steel Panthers

Installation:

Copy the files SCEN061.CMT and SCEN061.DAT into the directory \STEEL\SCEN\.
This will place it as the last scenario in the European section. If you
have already created a new scenario with this number, or have DL'd
someone else's, then simply rename the files to a free number, eg SCEN0??.CMT
and SCEN0??.DAT where ?? represents the slot number you wish to use.

Scenario Description:

This scenario is a transcription of the 'Iron Stoves' scenario from Gary
Grigsby's earlier game 'Panzer Strike'.

The original scenario description from 'Panzer Strike' ran as follows:

"As the German forces neared Leningrad, they were ordered to encircle the city
rather than attempt to take it outright. Outside the village of Malaya Kabosi,
the Soviets counter-attacked with their new KV-1 and KV-2 tanks in an attempt
to reopen the lines into the city."

Player's Notes:

Play is possible from either side, but it is probably more of a challenge to
pick the Soviets. However, though they have far superior equipment, and
are largely invulnerable to German attacks, the Russians have a pretty tight
schedule to meet. Also, these are fresh Soviet units that have been formed to
employ the new KV weapons. Consequently, they have not been in combat before
and their performance will reflect this.

To balance the play if it is wished to play the German side, I suggest going
into the Editor, loading this scenario, selecting 'Human' from the 'Deploy'
options, and typing a period "." You will then be asked for a turn length. If
the you enter a 15-turn limit, the AI will have a better chance. Save the
revised scenario a different slot and try it from the defender's perspective.
Play balance is always tricky in SP; as given with the 12-turn limit, the
scenario is optimised for PBEM or face-to-face. However, it is necessary to
recognise that the AI has inadequacies and design the scenario around them.
