                       WITTMANN IN BOCAGE

This scenario was created to reenact the famous battle of Villers-
Bocage as tank commander Michael Wittmann of the German Army.
The maps and deployment of military forces are based on military
history, although there are many variables because all information
related to the battle was not available.
For instance, a railroad actually ran south of Villers-Bocage, but
was omitted because this game has no railroads indicated on the
maps.
The actual strength of the British army was greater than in the
game, and was slightly reduced because it was impossible to deploy
all actual forces on the maps.

It is possible to generally reflect the actual battle conditions as
documented in military history. But after the battle begins, AI
controls the game automatically to engage both armies. Therefore,
it is usually difficult to achieve complete victory as in the actual
battle.
You can fight as much as possible however, riding atop a Tiger tank
with fighting capabilities based on the value of Wittmann's experience,
as well as the value of morale.

Now attempt to exceed Wittmann's battle record!

Profile of Michael Wittmann

Michael Wittmann was one of the best tank commanders, and was credited
with destroying 138 enemy tanks.
At the battle of Villers-Bocage, he destroyed 25 armored combat
vehicles, and almost single-handedly checked the advance of the 22nd
Armored Brigade.
Wittmann was killed in action on August 8, 1944. He achieved the rank
of SS-captain and was awarded the Knights Cross with Oak Leaves and
Swords for bravery in battle.
