			A Scenario for Steel Panthers

Installation:

Copy the files SCEN044.CMT and SCEN044.DAT into the directory \STEEL\SCEN\.
This will place it as the last scenario in the European section. If you
have already created a new scenario with this number, or have DL'd
someone else's, then simply rename the files to a free number, eg SCEN0??.CMT
and SCEN0??.DAT where ?? represents the slot number you wish to use.

Scenario Description:

This scenario is a transcription of the 'Peiper on Point' scenario from Gary
Grigsby's earlier game 'Typhoon of Steel'.

The original scenario description from 'Panzer Strike' ran as follows:

"Determined to slow the tide of [the] advancing German army, improvised units
drawn mainly from the U.S. 2nd Armoured Division were ordered to delay the
enemy near Trois Points, Belgium. The Germans, desperately needing all their
precious armour, slammed into the American defences and suffered heavily."

Players Notes:

This scenario really highlights some of the AI differences between Steel
Panthers and the Panzer Strike/Typhoon games. It is a much harder job for
the Germans in this version and it is recommended that the human player
take the German side for two reasons; the US forces don't get too many
decisions to make and the AI is still not aggressive enough in SP when
on the offence. I have tinkered with the German OB compared with Gary's
original and beefed it up quite a bit, most notably with the addition of
an extra 2 Mk IVs. Even so, this is a tough nut to crack. If you want to
experiment with balance, the biggest changes can be made by increasing
the morale and experience levels for the Hellcat crews.

The map has been extended eastwards because of the difference in map
size and structure between the two games. It wasn't until I went
back to Typhoon to do these scenarios that I remembered that the old
games used squares and not hexes!

Thanks, again, to David Roderick for playtesting.

Cheers,
