			A Scenario for Steel Panthers

Installation:

Copy the files SCEN043.CMT and SCEN043.DAT into the directory \STEEL\SCEN\.
This will place it as the last scenario in the European section. If you
have already created a new scenario with this number, or have DL'd
someone else's, then simply rename the files to a free number, eg SCEN0??.CMT
and SCEN0??.DAT where ?? represents the slot number you wish to use.

Scenario Description:

This scenario is a transcription of the 'DAK Reacts' scenario from Gary
Grigsby's earlier game 'Panzer Strike'.

The original scenario description from 'Panzer Strike' ran as follows:

"During the Crusader battles, the Stephan battlegroup, part of 5th Panzer
Regiment, was ordered to reconnoiter towards the village (sic) of Gabr Saleh.
There it ran into most of the 4th Armoured Brigade Group. Although numerically
the two forces were closely matched, the Honeys could not stand up to the
German guns"

Players Notes:

To add a little flesh to the bones of the above description, you may wish to
know that the actual British unit represented is the 8th Hussars, the lead
regiment of 4 Arm Bde. The other British regiment involved (also equipped
with 'Honeys') was 5 RTR. This latter regiment was kept back to fire at the
Germans from a longer range; their participation in the battle was negligible
and the brunt of the Axis thrust was taken by the Hussars who lost 23 tanks and
the battlefield which the Germans claimed, together with their damaged
vehicles which were towed off by their excellent repair services.

The map is dead flat because that's the way it is on the plateau of the Libyan
desert. The road represents the Trigh el Abd, the road that Leutnant-Colonel
Stephan had been ordered to scout towards.

The most challenging play is from the British side as the MkIIIh has much
better gun than the 37mm in the Stuart/Honey. However, this scenario can be
played from either side and is a good example of the typical desert tank
battle so common in 41-43

Thanks, again, to David Roderick for playtesting.

Cheers,
