1) Getting started

   In order to run this program correctly, you'll need the following
   files:

   - ed96.exe		NHL-96 Editor V0.95
   - vbrun300.dll	Visual Basic Driver
   - cmdialog.vbx	Driver
   - spin.vbx		Driver
   - threed.vbx		Driver
   
   - 00000att.db	att.db
   - 00000car.db	stats95.db
   - 00000crt.db	carteams.db
   - 00000cur.db	
   - 00000frm.db	
   - 00000key.db	key.db
   - 00000pnt.db	
   - 00000sch.db	schedule.db
   - 00000sea.db	season.db
   - 00000tem.db	teams.db

   - db.bat		updates data-directory	

---> Install the files as follows:

   a) Copy the exe-file and the driver-files into your nhl96-
      directory.

   b) Copy the db-files and the bat-file into your nhl96/data-
      directory.

   c) Run the bat-file. This updates your database.

---> Create an editable league as follows:

   a) After installing the files and running the bat-file,
      start the game.

   b) Create a new league.

   c) Exit the game.

   d) Enter the nhl96/season-directory and take notice of the
      5-digit code for your new league (e.g. if the files are
      named 01001key.db, 01001att.db, etc, the code is 01001).

   e) Copy the files 00000frm.db and 00000pnt.db from the
      nhl96/data-directory into the season-directory. Rename
      them with the 5-digit code for your new league (e.g.
      rename 00000frm.db 01001frm.db).
	
---> Setting up the editor.       
      
   a) In Windows 95. Add the ed96.exe to your taskbar, and
      click the icon to start the program.

   b) In older Windows-version. Add the ed96.exe as a new
      program-object in the file-menu.

   c) The program will also run if you click on it while
      using file-manager.


2) The main-menu

-> 2.0 - Loading the league

   When starting, a front-page will appear. Click on it, and
   a control-box will pop up, asking you for a file name. Find
   your way to the db-files of your new league. Identify the
   5-digit code, and click on any of the db-files with the
   correct code. Your database will load.

-> 2.1 - File

   2.1.1 Open

   Use this option to open a new league.

   2.1.2 Save Team

   Saves the team currently displayed. Stores all changes made
   on the current team.

   2.1.3 Quit

   Quits the editor.

-> 2.2 - Options

   2.2.1 Editor

   Displays the main-menu.

   2.2.2 Trade

   Displays the trade-menu. See pnt 3).

   2.2.3 Sort by position

   Sorts the team by position (C,LW,RW,D,G).

   2.2.4 Print player

   Dumps a txt-file with the attributes of the currently
   displayed player.

   2.2.5 Edit Stats

   Allows you to edit the stats of the currently displayed
   player. Last season- and playoff-stats only.

-> 2.3 - Transactions

   2.3.1 Send to farm/Relegate

   Send the currently displayed player to the minors.

   When an all-star team is displayed, use this option to
   kick an unwanted player off the roster.

   2.3.2 Promote

   Promote the selected player to the team.

   2.3.3 Name as all-star

   Name the selected player as an all-star. This will put
   the player on the all-star roster.

   2.3.4 Add new player

   Before using this option, you'll have to click on a free 
   spot on your team-roster or farmteam. The new player will
   be added to your farm-team. You'll then have to set the
   players attributes.

   ! Remember that you have to save the current team to add
   the new players.

   2.3.5 Delete current player

   Deletes the selected player.

   2.3.6 Calculate injury

   Simulates a injury on the selected player, making him
   unavailable for a random amount of games.

   2.3.7 Reset injury

   Resets a players injury, making him available for the
   team.

-> 2.4 - View

   2.4.1 Lines

   Displays the lines-menu. See pnt 4).

   2.4.2 Stats

   Displays the stats-menu. See pnt 5).

   2.4.3 Standings

   Displays tables for the Eastern and Western conferences,
   as well as upcoming games and results from each game.

-> 2.5 - Automatic

   These options are still unavailable.

-> 2.6 - Control

   These options are still unavailable.

-> 2.7 - About

   About the editor. Credits, greetings and other info.


3) The trade-menu
  
-> 3.1 - Options

   3.1.1 Editor

   Displays the main-menu. Cancels out any trades not confirmed.

   3.1.2 Trade

   Reloads the trade-menu. Cancels out any trades not confirmed.

-> 3.2 - Transactions   

   3.2.1 Confirm trade

   Confirms the current trade.

   ! The players traded will appear on the minor-league rosters,
   and you'll have to promote them.


4) The lines-menu

-> 4.1 - File

   4.1.1 Save lines

   Saves the current line-settings.

   4.1.2 Cancel

   Cancels out your line-changes and returns to the main-menu.

-> 4.2 - View lines

   View the different line-settings.


5) The stats-menu

-> 5.1 - File

   5.1.1 Main menu

   Return to the main menu.

   5.1.2 Save current

   Saves the current stats, making it possible to use the
   view latest game(s) option.

-> 5.2 - Statistics

   5.2.1 Current season

   View current season stats.

   5.2.2 94-95 season

   View last season stats.

   5.2.3 Last game(s)

   View the stats from the games played since using the save
   current option. See pnt 5.1.2.
