Naval Service

This year, the Irish Naval Service is celebrating its golden
jubilee and to mark the occasion, members of the Service, with
help from the East Cork Radio Group, will operate a special event
station, with the callsign EI5INS, for the month of July 1996.

What makes this event somewhat more interesting than the usual
special event station, is that a special series of seven QSL cards
is being printed, depicting the history of the Naval Service.
There will be a unique card for each band from top band to 2
metres.

Operation will be on both CW and SSB on the HF bands with FM
operation on 2 metres.

Many ex members of the Naval Service are involved in amateur radio
and a special invitation is extended to them to make contact with
the organisers, Steve Nolan EI9HC or Mannix McAlister EI5HB, both
QTHR or at the Communications Division, Naval Base in Haulbowline.
Telephone 021-378777 or Fax 021-378108

Wicklow Wireless Society

Wicklow Wireless Society opened 1996 with a get-together on 17th
January.

The next meeting on February 7th will involve an inter member
contest during which teams will be allocated 15 minutes on HF SSB
or CW to make DX contacts . The winning team will be the one
which makes the QSO that qualifies for "the greatest distance in
miles".

Following a very successful involvement in the 1995 International
Marconi Day, transmitting as EI3IMD, the Society has accepted an
invitation from the IMD organizers to activate the station for the
April 20th, 1966 IMD event.

Courtesy of Jim EI2BB, club members are scheduled to visit. on
April 3rd, the Long Wave commercial radio station ATLANTIC 252,
to tour the complex.

hosted by the Fingal Radio Club and will be held in Jurys Hotel
in Ballsbridge on Sunday April 28th.

The Annual Dinner Dance will as usual take place on the Saturday

indication of the numbers likely to attend.

Support for the dance has been at record levels, both in Donegal
and Cobh, over the past two years and we are sure that Dublin will
be no different.

A very competitive special rate will apply for overnight
