VHF Locator Squares Table

In an attempt to encourage activity by EI stations on the VHF/UHF
bands, a locator squares table is being run for the duration of
1996.

All you have to do to enter is to inform the IRTS VHF Manager,
John, EI7GL or the newsletter editor, Dave, EI4BZ of the number of
locator squares that you have worked on each of the VHF/UHF bands
since the 1st of Jan. '96.

Please note that this is not a serious contest and QSL cards are
not required.

Further details can be found in this months newsletter.

Shannon River Run

Plans for the Shannon River Run are well advanced with six
cruisers already confirmed. Final details are being completed this
week as regards callsigns, bookings etc. but if you are interested
there is still time to be included and you should contact Paul
EI2CA before March 6th at 01-4900637, office hours.

A special certificate will be issued to all stations who work five
or more stations over the weekend with the special event station
suffix SRR i.e. Shannon River Run. A station can be counted more
than once if it is worked on a different band or mode.

Full details will be published in the mext Newsletter.

It should be noted that this award will be available to mobile 2
metre FM stations as well as to the HF stations, so pick a site
with a good take-off to the Shannon and you should be able to work
quite a few of the cruisers.

Up to date operating schedules, frequencies etc. of the various
crews will be available not only from net control, but also on
packet cluster and the Internet.

Full details closer to the event.

Phoenix Rally

The 1996 Rally season got off to a flying start on Sunday last
with the first rally of the year being promoted by the Phoenix
Amateur Radio Club at the Coolmine Community School in
Blanchardstown, Dublin 15.

All the usual EI traders were present and a good selection of
secondhand gear plus the usual junk was available to a good
gathering of willing punters.
