CB Intruders

Those of you who listen to or operate on ten metres CW will be
well aware of the non-amateurs who use the lower end of the band,
having moved up from a lower band.

One of these intruders really landed himself in it recently when
he worked a DL station on the low end of ten metres. He sent a
direct QSL card to the German station, who happened to be the
monitoring station of the German Amateur Radio National Society,
DARC.

The station, from County Limerick, gave full details of his name
and address which were then forwarded by the German Society to
both the Department of Communications and the IRTS.

The matter is currently being investigated.

Reports of any intruders on any amateur band should be reported to
the IRTS International Amateur Radio Union Monitoring Service
representative, Danny Bonner, EI6GS, QTHR.

Bayside Radio Groups annual canoe and raft race is organised by

Donegal (Tir Conaill) Radio Club

The May meeting of the Donegal (Tir Conaill) Radio Club was held
on the 29th with a smaller than usual attendance, probably due to
football on the box.

The Clubs annual dinner dance was confirmed for Saturday November
2nd, with the rally to be held on Sunday the 3rd. The venue for
both events will as usual be Jacksons Hotel in Ballybofey.

Noel EI9FM has been reading the IRTS News on VHF for several years
and would like a break from the job. Anyone in the Donegal area
who is willing to get involved in reading the news should contact
either Noel himself or any member of the Donegal Club.

The annual expedition to Aranmore Island over the bank holiday
weekend was again a great success with the operators much in
demand on the WAI net frequency. This year, more emphasis was
placed on the social aspect of the trip and all who attended were
happy with the outcome.

The club will meet as usual during the Summer months in Jackson's
Hotel in Ballybofey on the last Wednesday of each month starting
at 8.30 pm. Holiday makers who are in the area will be made most
welcome.

The Blasket Islands are being activated by members of the WestNet
Group together with some their fellow IOTA enthusiasts from HB9-
land. They are on all bands on both CW and SSB and should be
available until tomorrow Monday 10th June.

QSLs should be directed to Declan EI6FR.

Inishmaan Island in the Aran Island Group will be activated again
this year over the weekend of the Islands on the Air Contest, July
27 and 28th. A group from the Kildare and Waterford areas will
travel to the Island on Friday the 26th and should be on air until
Sunday evening. Further details later.

announce details of their destinations for this years event.

CW Field Day

Mixed conditions were experienced by the three stations who
competed in last weekends CW Field Day. Weather conditions were
much better than expected but band conditions were well down on
what had been experienced during the previous week.

EI4LRC/P, Limerick Radio Club operated in the restricted section
from a site in Parteen, County Clare and were taking part in CW
field day for the first time for over ten years. Reports suggest a
very enjoyable outing by all involved and much will have been
learned for future events.

They are eagerly looking forward to the SSB Field Day held over
the first weekend in September.

The other two stations were operated by members of the East Cork
Group using the callsigns EI7M/P in the open section and EI3DP/P
in the restricted section.

The next field day will be on VHF/UHF over the weekend of July the
6th and 7th.

Full details on all Field Days are available from the Contest
Manager Paul OKane EI5DI.
