Changes by Revision since CompressIT/VBX/OCX 1.0
------------------------------------------------
CompressIT/VBX/OCX Version 1.1
	- 2 new properties have been added to both the VBX and
the OCX versions of CompressIT. A read-only "Version" property
has been added so the current version of CompressIT/VBX/OCX can
be retrieved under program control at runtime.

        - The other property is "EncryptionKey" where an optional
"key" can be passed to the Compression Engine where encryption can
also be activated with compression. This works in both directions,
Compression and Decompression. Please note that the data
produced by the compression engine is CompressIT/VBX/OCX prorietary
and in some circumstance might represent enough encryption. We provided
the "EncryptionKey" property as an option where additional security
is required. Please see the on-line Help for additional informations.

The CompressIT/VBX/OCX package consists of the following:

	1 - diskette 3.5

*** For runtime distribution requirements see end of this readme file. ***

The diskette has an installation program which makes installation of the
CompressIT/VBX/OCX product painless. To run the install program:
   - place diskette into drive
   - from the File menu of program manager chose Run
   - type the following a:\install (assuming your 3.5" drive is drive a:)
   - you will given the choice to perform a Full Install or a Custom Install
   - you will also be allow to change the directory to which the components of
the CompressIT/VBX/OCX package will be installed. The default directory is
     C:\SFI\COMPRSIT
   - if you select the Full Install then all the components of CompressIT/VBX/OCX
will be installed in the directory chosen.
   - the Custom Install allow you to select components to install. It can be
also used to install components that were not installed previously at a later
     date.

If the custom Install is chosen then the following files are installed for
   each component.

   1. CompressIT/VBX

   CMPRSVBX.VBX
   CMPRSVBX.LIC

   2. CompressIT/OCX

   CMPRSO16.OCX
   CMPRSO16.LIC
REGSVR.EXE (used to register the control)

   D2HLINK.DLL (windows/system directory)
   D2HNAV.HLP (windows directory)
   MSOUTLIN.VBX (windows/system directory)

   4. Compression Sample Program

      default\compress

      CMPR_IT.MAK (Visual Basic make file)

   7. Show Active Modules Utility

   SHOWMOD.EXE

The following files are created on each install.

   README.TXT (this file)
INSTALL.LOG (a record of what files were installed)

The files CMPRSVBX.LIC and CMPRSO16.LIC are the licence files for the VBX
and the OCX respectively. These files must reside in the same directory
as the file CompressIT .VBX or .OCX file. These files are required if the
CompressIT/VBX/OCX is to be used in developing an application.

The .LIC files are not required for an application that is distributed
   as an .EXE file.

The file SHOWMOD.EXE is provided as an extra. This program will show
the modules which are currently loaded in the system. This file if chosen
from the list of components is loaded into the default directory. Use of the
program is very simple. There is a list of currently loaded modules.
Selecting a new entry in the list causes the information about that module to
displayed to the right. This program is most useful to ensure that modules
loaded are the correct version of the module. This information can be
determined from the directory from which the module is loaded and in some
cases from the description of the module. Some manufactures of software do
not use the version information for their modules. In this case the string
   "No data available" is displayed.

There is an option during the installation to create a program manager group.
It is recommended that you create this group. If you install the CompressIT/OCX
there are two items created in this program group to register the CompressIT
custom control and to unregister the custom control.

If you do not create the program group you will have to register the OCX
component manually. To manually register the custom control:

      1. Select File/Run from the Program manager
      2. Execute the following command

	   C:\SFI\COMPRSIT\REGSVR.EXE C:\SFI\COMPRSIT\cmprso16.ocx

To manually unregister the custom control:

      1. Select File/Run from the Program manager
      2. Execute the following command

	   C:\SFI\COMPRSIT\REGSVR.EXE /U C:\SFI\COMPRSIT\cmprso16.ocx

*** The above examples assume that the directory C:\SFI\COMPRSIT is the
*** directory into which you installed the CompressIT/OCX component.

   *** VBX Distribution Note ***

When you create and distribute applications that use the CompressIT/VBX
you should install the file CMPRSVBX.VBX in the customer's Microsoft
Windows \SYSTEM directory. The LIC file CMPRSVBX.LIC file must not be
   distributed with any application.

   *** OCX Distribution Note ***

When you create and distribute applications that use the CompressIT/OCX
you must provide a method of registering the custom control. The file
CMPRSO16.OCX can be installed into any directory. The registration
process will also register the information required to load the custom
control from that directory. As well as the CMPRSO16.OCX file you must
distribute the OC25.DLL file. This is the 16-bit control runtime DLL.
This file must be installed into the customer's Microsoft Windows \SYSTEM
directory. Your installation should ensure that if the customer has a
later version of the OC25.DLL file you do not copy over that file.

The program REGSVR.EXE is installed by CompressIT/OCX. This program is
used to register the custom control (as explained above). When you
distribute an application that uses the CompressIT/OCX you must provide
the customer a method to register the custom control. The REGSVR.EXE
program provides a quick and easy method of registering the custom
   control.
