SOME TIPS ON GETTING STARTED WITH WORDMASTER 1.7

                       -- HARD DRIVE INSTALLATION --

Put the WordMaster disk in either drive A or Drive B and type
INSTALLH. A directory will be created on your hard disk to hold the
WordMaster files and the files will be copied to that directory.

To be able to load WordMaster from anywhere on your hard disk be
sure to include the WordMaster directory in your PATH in your
AUTOEXEC.BAT. And remember to set the Home Directory so WordMaster
can find its own files from any other directory. Do this with the
       command <Ctrl-S><Ctrl-S> or <F1, O, P, H>. And make it permanent
       with the command <Ctrl-S><Ctrl-D> or <F1, O, S>.

                         -- FLOPPY DRIVE INSTALLATION --

Put the Wordmaster disk in drive A and type INSTALLF. The files
will be extracted to drive B. If you have 360K drives you will need
to use two disks and will be prompted to put in the second disk.
The first disk will hold the program files, the second disk the
documentation files and the WMCUSTOM files. If your B drive is a
720K (or higher) drive you can put all the files on a single disk.

If you are using a dual floppy system you will probably want to use
the program disk in drive A and keep data files in drive B. To do
this, set the Home Directory as described above under Hard Disk
Installation, but set it for A. Then use <Shift-F1> to change to the
B drive. (You may also have to enter B the first time you open a
       file.)

If you put a PATH statement like PATH=a:\;b:\; in an AUTOEXEC.BAT on
your boot disk you should be able to put the WordMaster disk in
drive A, the data disk in drive B and load WordMaster from drive B
       without all the above instructions.

You should have the following files on your disk(s):

Disk 1: WM .HLP The on-line help file.
WM .MAC The default macro file.
WM .EXE The main WordMaster file.
                ********.PDF Various Printer Definition Files.

Disk 2: COMMANDS.DOC An alphabetical listing of commands.
F-KEYS .DOC A chart of the Function Key commands.
PRINTER .DOC A listing of printers and .PDF files.
                README .TXT This file.
README .BAT Batch file for reading README.TXT.
WM .DOC The main documentation file.
WMCUSTOM.EXE File for customizing command structure.
WMCUSTOM.TXT File for creating new help file.

PLEASE NOTE: THERE HAVE BEEN A NUMBER OF PROGRAMMING CHANGES IN
WordMaster THAT CREATE INCOMPATIBILITIES WITH EARLIER VERSIONS.

If you have an earlier version of WordMaster you MUST use only
the .PDF files that come with version 1.7 as the files from
          older versions are not compatible.

Users of earlier versions of WordMaster will also notice that
the default function key assignments have been radically
changed after careful evaluation of user suggestions. BE SURE
you use the .HLP file for version 1.7 or you will be given
inaccurate information on the help screens.

                         -- LOADING THE PROGRAM --

To load WordMaster type WM and <Enter>.

To read the WordMaster documentation file, type WM WM.DOC and
       <Enter>.

                     -- PRINTING THE DOCUMENTATION --

To print out the documentation file (which is designed to be printed
using WordMaster) load the file as above and use <Shift-F9> to bring
       up the print menu.

It is important that the right Printer Definition File (the .PDF
files) is loaded before printing anything or the various fonts will
not be printed. By default, WordMaster uses EPSON-FX.PDF which is
fine for most printers that are Epson compatible. If your printer
will not work properly with this, then refer to PRINTER.DOC to see
       if your printer is listed.

If none of these work satisfactorily with your printer, you can
create your own .PDF file as outlined on page 22 of WM.DOC.

                       Good luck. Enjoy WordMaster!
