DAUtils MANUAL:
===============

INSTALLATION:
-------------

Make a sub-directory for the DAUtils files using the DOS command "MD".

	Example. From the root directory prompt, type: "MD DAUTILS" (do not
	include the quotation marks).

Unzip the file "DAUTILS.ZIP".

Copy all the files, unzipped from DAUTILS.ZIP, into the sub-directory you
created.

RUNNING THE PROGRAM:
--------------------

In DOS, run (execute) the file "DAUTILS.EXE" from within it's sub-directory.

DAUtils can be run from Windows, by:
Using the File Manager: select "DAUTILS.EXE" then press the Enter key or double
click the left mouse button.
	OR:
From the Program Manager: select "File", then "Run". Type in:
"C:\DAUTILS\DAUTILS", then press the Enter key. (Or, substitute the correct
sub-directory for "C:\DAUTILS\" if different.)
	OR:
You can make a PIF to run DAUtils in Windows.

THE MAIN SCREEN:
----------------

Once DAUtils is executed, you will be at the main, or startup screen.

In the center of the main screen is an information box. This box displays
information about the program and how to contact the author. After the
program is registered, this box will display information about the registrant.

HOW TO MAKE MENU SELECTIONS:
----------------------------

On the top line of the main screen is the main menu. There are six main menu
choices. Each main menu choice has one or more sub-menu choices. (Notice that
one of the main menu items will be highlighted.) You can use a mouse or the
keyboard to make your menu choice.

	Mouse:
	------
	Click the left mouse button on your menu choice to select it. From the
	main menu, this will cause your choice to display a drop-down menu with
	additional choices. Again, click the left mouse button on your menu
	choice to select it (to execute your drop-down menu choice).

	Keyboard:
	---------
	From the main menu, use the arrow keys to move the high-light from menu
	to menu. Use the Enter key or Down arrow key to cause the highlighted
	main menu to display a drop-down menu. (You can use the Esc key to close
	the drop-down menu. You can use the Left & Right arrow keys to move the
	main menu selection, with the drop-down menu displayed.) Use the Up and
	Down arrow keys to select a drop down menu. Press the Enter key to
	execute your menu selection.

		Note: A status line at the bottom left of the screen will give a
		brief description of the highlighted menu.

HOW TO USE A DIALOGBOX:
-----------------------

Dialogboxs are boxes that can (and do) pop up on the screen on top of
anything else that may be on the screen at the time. You must deal with and
close the dialogbox in order to get back to what you were doing before it
popped up. To navigate a dialogbox (move from element to element) use the Tab
and Shift+Tab keys or click on the element using the left mouse button. Press
the Enter key to make your selection. If a selection name starts with a
highlighted letter (yellow letter), such as the "O" in Ok on a button, press
Alt+(the high lighted letter) to select it.

THE MENU SELECTIONS:
--------------------

{} or {Desk Top}
-----------------

	{About}
	-------
	Selecting the About menu will display the "About This Application"
	dialogbox. Form here you can also view and enter registration
	information.

	To view the Program I.D. number and enter or view your registration
	number: Press the Ctrl+F1 keys (hold down the Ctrl key while pressing the
	F1 key). A dialogbox with the Program I.D. number will pop up. This is
	also where you enter or view your registration number.

	To enter or view your personal registration information: Press the Alt+F1
	keys (hold the Alt key while pressing the F1 key). Enter and save your
	personal information. You can also print this information for mailing
	your registration and for you own records.

{View}
------
Note: Before anything can be viewed, it must first be imported. See the menu
	{Import}.

	{Accounts}
	----------
	This will display the name and number of all accounts that have been
	imported and allow you to print them.

	{Activities...}
	---------------
	This will pop up an additional menu that will allow you to select the
	Account for which you wish to view activities. You must select the
	account with the mouse or arrow keys, then select the Ok button to view
	the selected account's activities.

	Once you are viewing an activity file there are many options available.
	All options can be selected using a mouse (for some operations keyboard
	input will be required).
	** If you do not have a mouse, you must press F10 to activate the menu **
	Once the menu is activated, you must make a menu selection, or deactivate
	the menu. (Pressing Esc will detractive the menu.)
	There is a {Help} menu that gives full descriptions on how to search, how
	to use the mouse, how to use the keyboard, and how to use the menu system.

	Following is a brief description of some operations:

	You can scroll up and down through the records using the PgUp and PgDn
	keys or by clicking on the speedbar buttons (the speedbar is at the
	bottom of the screen).

	You can search for a specific item by moving the cursor to the field you
	wish to search and pressing Ctrl+Z. (You can move to different fields by
	clicking the left mouse button when the square mouse cursor is on the
	field, or by using the arrow keys or Tab and Shift+Tab keys.)

	You can sort by date, number, or transaction by moving the cursor to the
	field you wish to sort and pressing Alt+S.

	You can print the contents of the activity file you are viewing by
	pressing Alt+F7.

	** Be advised that it is possible that an activity file may NOT contain
	all cleared transactions. This is especially true for credit card
	transactions. If you are concerned about a particular transaction and it
	is not found in the activity file, you will need to call the bank
	directly.

	{Balances}
	----------
	This will display the last balances that were imported.

	Balances are one of the most important files. This is because balances
	will always be up to date (with the bank's cleared transactions) even if
	the activity file is not. So keep in mind that it is possible that an
	activity file may NOT contain all cleared transactions but that the
	balances file will show a balance for all cleared transactions.

	Balances can be viewed and printed only.

{Import}
--------
Note: Before importing any data, be sure the path and extension for the ASCII
	activities files are correct. See menu {System} -> {File}.

	{Activities}
	------------
	This will import any and all ASCII activities files that were downloaded
	using Citibank's Direct Access software.

	{Balances}
	----------
	This will import and display the latest balances that were downloaded
	using Citibank's Direct Access software.

{Maintenance}
-----------

	{Remove}
	--------
	This allows you to remove (delete) all transactions, in all activities
	files, up to, and including, a specified date (that you enter).

	If you have been importing activities for a long period of time; or, if
	you have been printing hard copies and do not want to maintain all the
	transactions, this allows you to get rid of older ones that you feel you
	no longer need.

	{Start New}
	-----------
	This will delete ALL accounts and ALL activities, allowing you to start
	with a clean slate.

Note: Neither of the above two menu selections effect the balances file.

{System}
--------

	{File}
	------
	This presents a dialogbox where you can enter or change the path where
	the downloaded Citibank Direct Access ASCII files can be found. It also
	allows you to enter or change the ASCII file name extension.

	If, when you installed your Direct Access software, you accepted the
	default conditions, this will be very easy to do: Simply select the
	Default button; another dialogbox will pop up. In the new dialogbox,
	select "DOS" or "Windows" (depending on whether you are running Direct
	Access using DOS or Windows), then select the Ok button. This will fill
	in the correct path and extension. Select the Ok button again. The path
	and extension will be saved.

	If you changed the Direct Access default path (directory), or you changed
	the Direct Access default downloadable ASCII file name extension, you
	will have to enter these items manually.

	{Delete}
	--------
	This lets you decide whether to delete the ASCII activities file(s) after
	importing them.

	When running Direct Access (select "setup"), you can decide to append to
	ASCII activities files or to overwrite ASCII activities files when
	downloading new activities from Direct Access. If you choose to append
	activities, then the ASCII activities files will get bigger with each
	download. This is not a problem as long as you have enough hard disk
	space available. However, if you elected to append activities, and are
	short on hard disk space, you should set this dialogbox to delete the
	ASCII activities files after importing.

	Note: If you allow downloaded activities to be appended to the existing
	ASCII files, you may get some duplicate records during importing;
	especially if you use "Remove" to delete activities. Whenever duplicates
	are found during importing, a dialogbox will inform you that duplicate
	records have been found (duplicate transactions are not imported) and
	advise you to set up for deleting the files after importing. Again, you
	only need do this if you are short on hard disk space.

{Exit}
------

	{No}
	----
	don't exit the program.

	{Yes}
	-----
	Exit the program.
