AutoLoad 3.01 is a Graphical User Interface (GUI) Menuing system
and File manager. Once installed and set up with all the application
programs available on the system, AutoLoad can load and execute each
program with a single key press or click of the mouse. Using separate
menu data files allows for an infinite number of menu selections. The
file management half of AutoLoad makes file and directory maintenance
quick and easy. All the menuing and file management functions of
AutoLoad can be controlled by either mouse or keyboard.

    *** SUPPORT FILES ******************************************************

Also included in the AutoLoad package are four separate utilities
used to extend the functionality and ease-of-use of AutoLoad. These
utilities are: ALE.EXE, the AutoLoad text editor; LK.EXE, a file
locking security utility; BALLS.EXE, a graphical display utility used
for screen blanks; and FINDFILE.EXE, a utility to help locate files
    on the hard drive.

    *** INSTALLATION *******************************************************

I have tried to make the installation of AutoLoad as quick and easy
as I could. Follow these steps and you should be up and running in
    just a few short minutes:

Note: AutoLoad 3.01 (graphics) requires an EGA/VGA screen adapter that
can produce 640x350 screen resolution. If your current configura-
tion can not support this screen mode, you will not be able to
install or run this version of AutoLoad.

        - UnZIP (or otherwise extract) the AutoLoad files from the AL301
archived file to a floppy disk or temporary directory.

        - Change to the drive/directory containing the AutoLoad files to
          copy.

        - Run the ALINST.EXE program.

        - Press 'I' or click on the 'Install' button with the mouse to
          begin the installation process.

        - ALInst will ask you to verify the Source and Target drives and
directories before installation begins. You may change the default
AutoLoad drive or directory but you will not be allowed to install
the AutoLoad files on a floppy drive. File copying will be by-
passed if the current drive/directory is the same as the default
          AutoLoad drive/directory.

        - Press RETURN or click on the 'Ok' button after you have confirmed
          the Source and Target locations.

        - ALInst will then transfer the AutoLoad files to the Target drive/
directory and create the support configuration files.

        - Most of the AutoLoad files are in a special archived format before
their are installed. This is done for two reasons: 1. Prohibit
intentional tampering with files, and 2. Cut down on floppy disk
space needed to hold the files before copying. ALInst will extract
these files to a working format automatically.

        - Your system's PATH statement must be updated with the AutoLoad
directory information. It is also a good thing to place the AL.BAT
command at the end of your AUTOEXEC.BAT file for automatic execu-
tion when the system is turned on. ALInst will ask you if you want
this done for you. If you want ALInst to make the changes, press
'Y' or click on the 'Yes' button. If you would rather make the
changes yourself, press 'N' or click on the 'No' button.

        - Installation is now complete. ALInst will exit to the DOS prompt.

        - If changes were made to the AUTOEXEC.BAT file, re-boot the system.
AutoLoad will automatically come up provided that there were no
other programs at the end of the AUTOEXEC.BAT file that took
          control of the system first.

        - If a re-boot was not needed, start AutoLoad by typing:

                AL

This must be the way to start AutoLoad to have the Menu work
          correctly.

        - Edit any Menu items as needed.

    *** SHAREWARE **********************************************************

AutoLoad has been distributed as Shareware. The user is granted
30 days use for evaluation purposes. Cost of registration is $35 per
copy. The file REGISTER has been provided to aid in the registration
    process.

    *** THANKS *************************************************************

Thank you for trying out AutoLoad. I hope you find it a helpful and
useful tool in managing your computer system as it provides an easy,
graphical interface between you and your computer.
