     If you use hard disk, copy all data file in an empty directory.
     If you use the floppy disk leave the diskette able to be write.
     We suggest the use of hard disk for best performance.

                                  ------



       Starmate is an astrology program made for astrologers and all
  those individuals that have a basic understanding of astrology.
  The run the program simply type at the dos prompt: 
                           Starmate
                     then press Enter key

  On the initial screen you will see your name (if registered) as the
  authorized user, then press Enter.

  The program starts with a map for now (date-time of your computer).
  If you want modify the start map, change the data in the file
  'default.dta' using your favorite ascii editor.
  To set the start map for now (computer date-time) but for different
  location simply change then location name and coordinates data with
  the location you prefer and leave the date-time data with the value at 0.
  If you want a specific start map fill all data in the file 'default.dta'.
  Or, while running the program, use the keys Ctrl and S to set 'default.dta'   
  with the coordinate of the active map.
  You can also set the aspect's orbit of the charts (see Ctrl S  and Q key),
  the default is 10 degree for radix and 2 for progressions and directions.


   This program is loaded with functions for every astrologer's  need.

   
   
   F1  menu:                    From keyboard:
                                Use left right arrows then use the suggested
                                key on the menu to select item or Esc to exit.

                                With the mouse:
                                just move the mouse pointer over to the bar
                                on the left side of the screen,
                                use the left button to select item or right
                                one to exit.
                                moving the mouse out the menu area, the menu
                                disappear.
       

   You may use the menu keys directly as follows:
   
   F2 through F9 for the data referring at the active graphic option
   
   A -  Aspects:               Active graphic aspects.

   B - Biorhythms:             Shows the biorhythms of the active data
                               graph for now (system date) with the moon
                               phases.
                               Left, Right keys change month.
                               PgUp, PgDn keys change Year
                               For each color: 
                                        Earth  23 days cycle.
                                        Fire   28 days cycle.
                                        Air    33 days cycle.
                                        Water  42 days cycle.
                               Esc to exit
   
 Ctrl B -  Biorhythms (x year): same as above but for desired month & year.
                                Use up down arrow to change field,
                                digit month and year, then Enter when done
                                or ESC to abort.

  C -  Compatibility:           shows the biorhythms compatibility of the
                                active data with the data you input.
                                     to input the 2nd data:
                                use up down arrow to select field,
                                digit month and year, then Enter when done.

  Ctrl C -  Compatibility:      shows the biorhythms compatibility
                                between the active data and the transit data.
                                The transit data could be another person data.
          
   
  D - Primary Directions.       Enter the age for requested directions.  
   

  DEL key  -                    Clears data frames.

  E - Elements:                 The Element's weight for the current map.
                                fire, earth, air, water.
                                The function shows the equilibrium of
                                the elements in the active map.

  F - Fortune index:            The lucky index  for active option.
                                When 'Transit' is the active map,
                                it combines transit and radix data.
                                It's based on statistical research on the
                                state lottery winners. A lucky time comes
                                when the birth fortune index is 50 or up.
                                Very rarely considering the normal index
                                is around 0.

  G -  Save the screen:         Save the screen in a file as bmp or gif format.
                                adding the bmp or gif extension to the file
                                name so you can  use it with many popular
                                graphics programs.

                             if you like to print the active screen directly:
                                   From DOS:
                                       use the PRNT SCREEN key.
                                     ( before you start Starmate load the DOS
                                     program 'Graphics.com')
                                   From Microsoft's  Windows 95:
                                        1. Turn off the printer
                                        2. Press the PRiNT SCREEN key
                                        3. click on START
                                        4. click on PROGRAM
                                        5. click on ACCESSORIES
                                        6. click on PAINT
                                        8. then in the paint menu click on EDIT
                                        9. click on PASTE
                                        The page will show on the screen
                                        letting you manipulate the picture.
                                        10. Turn on printer
                                        11. click on FILE and then click
                                        on PRINT
       
  

  I - Data list:                Shows the data of the active graph.

  J - Planets influence:        Shows the planetary periods influence
                                in the solar return option.
                                Based on studies of the astrologer
                                Junctin de Florence (XVI century), and
                                well described by Alexander Volguine in
                                his book 'La tecnique des revolutions solaires'.
                                Each period start at Solar return time and
                                the first planet is the Master of the rise sign.
                                followed by the other planets in the order:
                                Saturn  85 days
                                Jupiter 30 days
                                Mars    30  days
                                Sun     53 days
                                Venus   33 days
                                Mercury 57 days
                                Moon    71 days
   
  K - Moon phases:              Shows the date - time list of moon phases
                                for the year of the active data and
                                for the Time Zone of active chart .
                                Use keypad to move the selection bar.
                                Hit Enter key to select the date and making
                                the transit, or esc to abort.


  Ctrl K -  Moon phases:        Same as above but for desired year.



  L - Eclipses:                 Eclipses list (Lunar and Solar)
                                for year of active data 
                                for Time Zone of active chart .

  Ctrl L -  Eclipses:           Eclipses list (Lunar and Solar)
                                for desired year.

  M - Dominant planets Graph.   Based on directions of a copy of an
                                old Antoine De Villon's book,
                                adding data for  Uranus , Neptune
                                and Pluto.

  N - Load New Data.
                       From Data Bank:

                                The oldest will be clear.
                                When the program will ask if the person's name
                                that you are doing the chart is  new:
                                Type N and Enter key.
                                Then select then data bank from the list.
                                (Initially will show you only the "People') 
                                move the highlight bar over and press enter.
                                Now we are inside the People data bank,
                                On Keyboard use arrows, PgUp,PgDwn,Home, End 
                                to move the bar then Enter to select or Esc
                                exit.
                                For a fast search simply digit the name you
                                are looking for and, if exists, appear on the
                                top of the list.
                                Move the bar over the name and  press enter.
                                The Ephemerides are made and press 1, 2 or 3
                                to select the graphic chart type.
                                  

                         From Keyboard: 

                                Answer yes (Y), then press Enter.
                                Name:   (28 character max)
                                Month:  (1-12)
                                Day:    (1-31)
                                Year:   (YYYY)
                                Hour:   (0-24)
                                Use arrows to move on each field then:
                                Use BS key to correct. 
                                Enter when done or Esc to abort.
                                 
                                Then the program will ask you:

                                        1 :Coordinates
                                        2 :City name 
                                        3 :World Map 
                                        select 1 ,2 or 3
  
                                Select 1 if you know the city coordinate.
                                Select 2 to access to the city data bank.
                                Select 3 to select the coordinate from the
                                world map.

                                if yow know the city coordinate you will
                                choose the number 1 selection.
  
                                The program will ask you:
  
                                        City name __________________
                                        State ______________________
                                        Latitude____________________
                                        Longitude___________________
                                        Time Zone___________________

                                input the data moving your cursor with the
                                arrow keys.
                                If you do not know the city coordinate press
                                Esc, return to main selection and press 3
                                to select the coordinate in the world map:
                                 with the mouse point by click the left
                                 button  or,if don't have  the mouse use
                                 the arrow keys move the pointer over the
                                 location and press enter.

                                Typing 2 you will get in the major
                                world cities coordinates  (World.fil).
                                Use Up ,Down, Pgup,Pgdn,Home/End keys on
                                keyboard to highlight item,then Enter to
                                Select or Esc to exit.
                                For a fast search type the City name.
                                and automatically you will get (if exist)
                                at the top of list.
                                You can manage the world.fil using the keys
                                as follow:

                                        F7      to add new data.
                                        F8      to modify selected data.
                                        Del key to delete selected data.

                                The program manages any data bank in
                                alphabetical order (by name).

                                If the city is not found in the list press
                                the "Esc" key the program will  return again
                                at the first option were it asks you:
                                

                                After that, the program will give you the
                                relative astral positions in elliptic
                                longitudes of the planets and the zodiacal
                                sector  By pressing 1,2 or 3 you will choose
                                the graphic chart that pleases you most:
                                        1 = western style
                                        2 = European style
                                        3 = Altitude -  Azimuth prospect

                                All the graphics sectors are calculated with
                                the Placidus method.
                                The F1 key shows the menu. 

  O - Arabian parts:            Arabian parts for active chart.

  Ctrl O - Arabian parts:       Arabian parts of the radix data. 

  P - Progressed chart:         for radix data.

  Q - Aspect's orbit:           Set the aspect's orbit for the charts
                                and the aspectarium
                                The default is 10 degree for the radix chart,
                                2 for progression and directions.
                                

  R - Solar return:             The program asks for the year and  place of
                                the anniversary.
       
                                                three kind of graph:
                                                Key
                                                4:   Western style
                                                5:   European style
                                                6:   alto-azimuth
       
                                

 S - Save on disk:              Select then data bank where to put the active
                                data moving then cursor by arrow keys
                                then press Enter.
                                To open a new one, simply digit the file name
                                (without extension) then press Enter.
                                The program stores any data bank in
                                alphabetical order (by name).

 Ctrl S : Set 'default.dta'     Set the default with the active map coordinate.
                                'default.dta' is used by the program
                                at the start.
                                


 T - Transit option.            Input the transit data by keyboard.
                                keys
                                7  Transit Graph (with radix planets).
                                8  Transit graph (without radix planets).
                                9  alto-azimuth graph.



 U - Solstice points            shows the solstice points for each planet
                                of the active chart and the opposite to
                                the solstice. 


 Ctrl U - Solstice points (Radix): shows the solstice points for each radix
                                  planet and the opposite to the solstice.

 V - Energies                   (planet's energies) :
                                compute the chart energy as directions 
                                of the old indian Navamsa role studied by
                                the famous Bailey.
                                

 W - Calendar                   Perpetual calendar.
                                Use Up/Dwn key to change month
                                PgUp/PgDn key to change Year.
                                Esc to Exit.

 X -                            swap frame data position.

 Y - Asc's progression:         It's an ascendant progression over the radix
                                planets and houses cusps,(rise time difference
                                commuted in years.)
                                When Solar return ,Progressed or Direction is
                                active it's based on the ratio between the
                                anniversary day and the year.

                                The birth data must be exact.
                                Date must be considered as focal center
                                of a period that it not pass over a week
                                supported by analyzing the aspects of that
                                period and the charts.
                                
        
 Z - Moon's progressions:       for radix and solar return charts.
                                When Solar return is active:
                                It shows the moon's progressions over the
                                planets and houses cusps.
                                The Moon's progression ratio is based on
                                longitude distance between the moon position
                                at the solar return time and the next solar
                                return.
                                When Radix chart is active:
                                It shows the moon's progressions over the
                                radical planets and houses cusps;
                                ( 1 day after birth as one year of life)
