RECOGNITION SPAN

Eyes must be kept in the center of the screen. The same letter appears at
both ends of the long horizontal bar. The letter at the center of that bar
is used only to keep one's eyes in the center. The letter on the ends can
be identified by pressing the same letter on the keyboard or the click the
on the same letter with the mouse in the choice box below the horizontal
bar.

For those who have typing skills, the keyboard will be faster than the
mouse. However, the objective is to recognize the letters to grasp many
words with one glance. Character Recognition and Word Recognition will also
develop that ability.

The letters on the ends of the horizontal bar can be pushed apart by
pressing the space bar.

You must maintain a high %score as you perform this exercise rather than
decrease your response time rapidly because many letters have to be
identified in the recognition span to read faster.

Hence, keeping a high score, the Recognition Span exercise can be adjusted
to 2 or 3 characters in the Set-up menu.
