[] WAFFLE FOR MS DOS PRODUCT INFORMATION --

Waffle for MS DOS provides a solution for networking PC's
to Unix systems over UUCP. Unix E-Mail and Usenet News are
fully supported, and Waffle is arguably the most complete
   implementation for MS DOS available.

Some of the major features provided by Waffle are:

        o Unix network access

DOS components for the Unix programs UUCP, UUX,
UUQ, UUXQT, and UUCICO are provided. To some extent
these mirror those included with Unix, but their
usage has been tailored for DOS systems.

        o Electronic Mail

Your system appears as any other Unix system would
on the UUCP network. E-Mail may be exchanged with other
Unix, Internet, or Waffle systems. E-Mail may also
be exchanged between users on your local system.

The usual E-Mail widgets (mailing lists, quoted
           messages, signatures) are all supported.

Waffle can also act as a domain gateway, or hub,
forwarding mail to other systems in your organization.

o Usenet News on a PC

You can read and post Usenet News on your PC. This is
integrated with the mail reader, so you can either
post your replies or send them by E-Mail.

Waffle permits your PC to provide compressed or
batched Usenet news feeds to other systems, in the
same manner as a Unix system.

Tools are provided to gateway mailing lists on the
Internet to Usenet, and vice versa. Also, Usenet News
may be sent over E-Mail links to remote sites.

        o Remote access

Most of Waffle's features can be accessed over
a modem, remotely. This includes system administrative
functions, E-Mail and Usenet, access to the MS DOS
           shell, and file transfer functions.

Of course, Waffle's remote access capabilities make
it ideal for use as a BBS system.

        o Scheduler

While waiting for an incoming call, Waffle may be
configured to perform events at certain times, either
at specific times or on a schedule (hourly, etc).

These events may be polling other systems for
network traffic, daily maintenance tasks, or they may
           be ordinary DOS commands.

        o External commands

Commands that execute DOS programs may be easily
integrated to the system. You can choose to have the
external program handle its own I/O or have Waffle
           handle it for you.

Furthermore, you can run Waffle as a front end
to other programs; special captive accounts can
run programs of your choice for dialup users.

        o Security

Great pains are taken to ensure that ordinary remote
users are not permitted to access areas potentially
harmful to the system (such as a remote DOS shell..)

Access to Usenet messages may be granted by "level"
or by group. Also, many privileges may be revoked or
granted on an individual user basis. These same
access techniques may additionally be used with file
transfer areas, external programs, or E-Mail.

Waffle maintains an extensive set of logfiles, which
record all "interesting" system events, in addition
           to network and user statistics.

        o File transfer section

File transfer section may be used with any protocol.
Any number of file areas are allowed, and support is
included for CD ROM devices. Batch downloads, file find,
new file scan. An archive lister to list the contents
of tar, zip, arc, and other popular formats.

        o Mail Hub

Waffle includes routing capabilities so that you
can run as a News or E-Mail hub for other systems. You
may have Waffle poll them, or they can dial in.

        o Configurabilty

The whole system is intended to be extremely flexible
and powerful when it comes to configuration. We are often
thanked for this when Waffle users are able to do things
that we never intended or conceived of.

You will probably not need all the features listed above.

Those that you don't use are designed to stay out of your
way (for instance, if you don't run a dialup system, you can
still get full use of the system in local mode.)

There are many dozens of significant features not included in
the list, described in full with the included documentation.
This small blurb cannot even begin to describe them all.
