Update Log to View programs:
============================

3 July 92 View: You can now cancel a file 'SAVE'
                  File transfer via email function....

10 June 92 View: Fixed problem of viewroot not working. (broken 5 may 92)
LanView: Only 1 beep when new mail arrives and not the
           annoying 2 beeps.

05 May 92 View: Added /w command parameter to View. Use in Windowed
environments (win3.1 os/2 etc) to relieve cpu overhead of
on-screen clock. Also, the border is not draw. Most support
programs have been changed to reflect this.

Also, added INTERVAL parameter in config page 2 to set how often
View scans the disk file for new mail. Older versions hit the hard
drive once a second. This might be ok for stand-alone
dos machines, but it is too heavy for windowed or networked
           machines.

In-reply-to in subject lines have been changed to -> Re:

View should be able to detect start of messages in pop3 format from
           nos.

The status variable in mail messages has been changed to be 'more
compatible' with other systems. Status: R

New CHECK program to reflect the above change.

02 Jan 92 POSTMAN: Supports redirect function from View
VIEW: Support redirect Alt-R and Telephone dialing Alt-T
** Most of the programs have been changed.

28 Nov 91 VIEW: The number of messages is displayed in upper left corner.
TO: and SUBJECT: now scroll in their windows.
                  network get_realname function improved.

2 July 91 POSTMAN: Changes were made to allow Netware 386 run smoothly.

23 May 91 Configr: MailOut filename, Save Filename will have the novell mail
                   directory filled in if blank.
Pconfig: Fixed bug that caused it to die if in 50 line mode.
Postman: Fixed bug that caused it to fail if <SPACES> were
                    contained in the VIEW.MBX file.
VIEW: You can now have a default configuration for the lan. Copy a
sample MAILER.CFG to \VIEW\DEFAULT.CFG. New users of the LAN
Mailer will have their initial setup copied from
                \VIEW\DEFAULT.CFG.

16 May 91 View: Lan version: Auto-Mailbox updating is disabled while
you are composing messages. This resolved a problem that
caused the screen to look 'messed-up' if things started to
happen while you were doing other things.

The '?' now displays how many copies of the Mailer are being
                 used on the network.

7 May 91 Postman/View: Fixed a problem that occurred if the Novell userid was
greater than 8 characters. Postman now reads
\VIEW\ALIAS file to convert 8 character name into
longer novell name (IE: supervis supervisor)

3 May 91 Postman: Fixed a problem that stopped postman from using userids with
no fullname specified in the SYSCON.

12 March 91 View: Fixed a problem with screen updating when a novell broadcast came
in while new mail was arriving. Increased mailbox size
from 175 messages to 300 messages (only the oldest 300 are
shown, newer messages are not lost of course)

10 March 91 Add-on: The MAILER.CFG variable is checked and used.
VIEW: Auto-update bug fixed; when mailbox is empty.

5 March 91 VIEW/POSTMAN: Lan Version: Semaphores are used to lock files.
This change stopped difficulties with view & postman
both trying to lock files at the same time.

VIEW: All $$MAIL$$.TMP files have been changed to userid.TMP
This allows more than one copy of the stand-alone view to
run on a shared volume. In the past, each copy would
clobber the .TMP files of another copy.

19 Feb 91 BROADCAST: A new program. Allows people to have a list of users in
a file, and send a message to each user in this file.
The difference is that each user only sees themselves in
the header. This is important when you are sending mail
to huge user lists. At this time, broadcast is LAN
                      version only.

19 Feb 91 VIEW/CONFIGR: New environment variable.
                    SET MAILER.CFG=C:\SPOOL\MYNAME.CFG
allows you to specify the full dos filename of an
alternate configuration. This allows you to have
different batch files, call in different configurations.

19 Feb 91 POSTMAN: Changed the way some functions were be called. The result
should cause POSTMAN not to 'hit' to servers so hard
                    during its 'search_and_deliver' runs.

07 Feb 91 POSTMAN/VIEW: Sorting out some file locking problems when system is
under a heavy load. Trying some different approaches
to make locking more reliable. This only affects
                         multi-tasking environments.

30 Jan 91 Configr: Fixed bug that caused Check_Network: to be set to 'N'
                    whenever you exited configur.exe

28 Jan 91 View: Help screens now handled by 'TextLink'. Help screens are now
more interactive, and can be custom tailored for specific
                 sites.

23 Jan 91 View: Printer status is now checked and an error screen displayed.
View used to crash and drop to DOS if printer was not online.

07 Jan 91 VIEW: Fixed error on how Message-ID: was constructed if using the
                 gateway option.

Mailbook: Read the printer definition from the mailer.cfg(if it exists)

02 Jan 91 VIEW: Fixed bug when creating mail messages. Sometimes the message
was considered as part of the header
(sent mail to the wrong place!)

A "Blank" line is inserted after the header.

F4: was changed from 'read msg' to 'print msg' because
everyone used <CR> to read the message anyways.

Configr: Changed some spellings to Canadian. Color => Colour
                    Favorite => Favourite

28 Nov 90 Check: Fixed bug that caused CHECK to report NO MAIL if executed
                  from system login script.

VIEW&CONFIGR: You can turn on/off network broadcast message
trapping. Trapping causing a window to appear
instead of the single line at the bottom.

9 Nov 90 Postman/View: Changed some locking routines.

7 Nov 90 Postman: Changed some network functions. Postman scans much
faster with the new calls. Also added some error
                     trapping.

30 Oct 90 Postman: Fixed bug that sometimes caused new mail notification not
to be sent to the user.

VIEW&CHECK: date/time is pulled from the file server and the
                        workstation clock is updated.

           VIEW&CONFIGR: You can specify a default path/filename for ALT-S.
You can specify PageEject with ALT-P.
You can specify that the screen should be
automatically updated when new mail arrives.

VIEW (LAN): Novell broadcast messages are trapped and displayed.
The last 5 messages are displayed instead of the little line at the
bottom. The workstation continues to function instead of freezing
due to the novell (CTRL-ENTER to CONTINUE)

28 Oct 90 CONFIG: Realname is grabbed from the novell syscon.

VIEW: When sending email with the lan version, the realname is
                  obtained from the syscon.

01 Oct 90 CONFIGR: Fixed problem of KeepFile being set to 'NO' whenever you
                     exit CONFIGR.

28 Sep 90 VIEW: Verifies that there is at least one blank line after the
header. Some mailers/gateways will bomb if the header is
not separated from the message text.

27 Sep 90 VIEW: Fixed problem of .LCK files remaining after all messages are
erased. Fixed problem of FROM: field in header if Realname
is not filled in. View used to leave "" in the FROM: field.

26 Sep 90 POSTMAN: new mail notification is time stamped.

VIEW: Fixed bug in parsing Reply-To: field when replying to
messages. View properly positions the cursor when composing new
messages if you use QE.EXE or EMACS.EXE as the editor. Fixed bug
that caused 'keep outmail?' to be turned off. Lines containing
equals signs '===========' are not removed except if they are in
the message header. View can now run batch files as viewer/editor.

31 Aug 90 POSTMAN: Users of View can turn off 'notification' of new mail.

VIEW: Add-On manager can now load batch files, not just executables.

30 Aug 90 VIEW: Fixed bug that would cause leading zeros to be chopped off in
the time field of the header ie: 12:8:1pm instead of 12:08:01pm

POSTMAN: Fixed bug that could cause messages to be lost from the
Internet if more than one came in at a time.

29 Aug 90 VIEW: Added locking/unlocking routines so that new mail can arrive
while in mailbox. View releases the mail file when it is not using
it, and checks to see if 'busy' before locking again.

VIEW will now read \view\alias This will allow master user
lists to be created. (lan version)

VIEW: The "/" key or the right mouse button will display a menu
on-screen. The menu displays misc functions.

The file I/O routines have been changed for faster access.
Most files are read at least 3 times faster.

ADD-ON: Fixed bug which caused add-on to hang the computer if
called from the lan version of view.

Most View programs will now try to auto-detect the video card to
see if color is available. C> ProgramName /B overrides color
