DIGITAL ANNOUNCES SUPPORT FOR UNIVERSAL SERIAL BUS STANDARD

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. -- March 20, 1995 -- Digital Equipment Corporation
today announced its support for the new Universal Serial Bus (USB)
standard, which was introduced here at the Windows Hardware Engineering
Conference (WinHEC) '95.

The USB simplifies connectivity for new PC uses, such as computer
integrated telephony. In addition, PC users will benefit from the
ease-of-use requirements for Plug and Play external devices and port
consolidation, all at a very low cost.

Digital joined the USB core group last summer and has been instrumental in
the evolution of the specification since then. The company is committed to
the development of the USB specification.

"As the PC begins connecting to higher bandwidth external resources, USB
will be integral to Digital's strategy in delivering PC products that meet
our customers' ease-of-use needs," said Scott Cutler, vice president,
technology, for Digital's PC Business Unit.

Bill Johnson, vice president, marketing and sales, Digital Semiconductor,
added, "The Universal Serial Bus will enable PC users to add a wide
variety of peripherals in a very straightforward and cost-effective
manner. Digital Semiconductor was actively involved in the creation of the
USB standard, and it is our intention to incorporate USB support in our
semiconductor products."
