Intergraph, Deneb Robotics Announce Contract Agreement

AUBURN HILLS, MI, February 22, 1995--Intergraph Software Solutions
(Huntsville, AL) has recently enhanced its manufacturing solutions package
by signing a contract agreement with Deneb Robotics, Inc. (Auburn Hills,
MI) enabling Intergraph to resell Deneb's Virtual NC and "Ultra"
interactive simulation software packages. This agreement extends a
previous contract between the two companies that allows Intergraph to
resell Deneb's IGRIP simulation software. Hardware support includes
Silicon Graphics, Sun and Intergraph workstations.

"Manufacturing customers need NC verification tools not only to meet
production requirements, but also to reduce cost and improve quality,"
said William H. McClure, vice president, Intergraph Mechanical Software
Solutions. "Deneb's Virtual NC provides the comprehensive verification
functionality that is not available today in standard software packages.
This simulation software will provide manufacturers a strategic
competitive advantage in the marketplace.

Virtual NC for the Manufacturing Environment

Deneb's Virtual NC is a three-dimensional (3D) interactive simulation
environment specifically for visualizing and analyzing the functionality
of a machine tool, its CNC controller, and the material removal process.
It is being used to prove out NC programs, setup configurations, advanced
machine tools, and complex machining processes. Virtual NC provides a
dynamic environment for concurrent engineering, rapid prototyping, machine
tool and machining simulation, and operator training.

"Engineers and programmers can evaluate an actual machine controller and
different processing techniques without monopolizing machine time or
risking damage to the tool," explains Jerry Eshbaugh, Virtual NC product
manager. "The software will automatically detects near misses and
collisions, and will stop the cycle or log the event. 'Mimic,' Virtual
NC's universal controller, emulates any CNC controller and allows
post-processed NC programs to be analyzed at the workstation to verify the
process before production machining." Mimic provides continuous cycle
monitoring and feedback, and an open environment in which process
algorithms can be evaluated, refined and implemented. Advanced functions
help optimize machine utilization.

Application-Specific Software

Intergraph will also resell Deneb's application-specific "Ultra"
interactive 3D simulation products. These software packages enable users
to rapidly prototype and evaluate robotic manufacturing processes, verify
tooling concepts, optimize workcell design and layout, determine workcell
cycle times and throughput, confirm reachability, and generate off-line
programs for robots within the workcell.

UltraArc and UltraSpot packages are specifically for designing, optimizing,
and off-line programming robotic arc or spot welding workcells. These
packages enable the welding engineer or technician to evaluate alternative
processing, fixturing, torches and guns, bracket angles, positioners, and
other workcell peripheral equipment.

UltraFinish package is specifically for designing, optimizing, and off-line
programming robotic grinding/buffing/polishing workcells. This package
simplifies robot programming by utilizing the CAD surfaces and features to
generate robot paths and tool orientations.

UltraPaint is a simulation tool specifically for designing, optimizing, and
off-line programming robotic painting workcells. UltraPaint enables the
evaluation of robot and gun selection, material handling configuration,
line speed, paint coverage, and gun and system transfer efficiency.

"This agreement with Intergraph provides manufacturing engineers,
programmers, and operators extensive software, hardware, and technical
support, plus access to emerging technology," said Robert G. Brown,
president, Deneb Robotics, Inc. "These combined resources will enable a
greater number of manufacturing sites to implement simulation-based
design, virtual prototyping, and concurrent engineering techniques to
reduce the product design cycle, production cycle, costs, and lead-time to
market."
