Frontier Technologies Introduces X Server for PC to UNIX Connectivity

MEQUON, WI--February 28, 1995--Frontier Technologies today announced a new
32-Bit X Server software product for personal computers. Frontier's SuperX
for Windows is designed for Global 1000 organizations that need to
integrate PCs into a heterogeneous enterprise network. The product fills
out Frontier's SuperTCP family of award-winning TCP/IP applications.

Frontier's SuperX enables UNIX applications to be displayed on and
controlled from a PC running Microsoft Windows. For example, users running
SuperX are able to utilize popular X Internet applications (i.e. NCSA
Mosaic) and commercial applications such as database management systems or
high-end electronic publishing applications that run only on UNIX. UNIX
desktop applications that come with a particular platform such as SunOS,
Solaris, AIX, HP-UX and UnixWare are also supported.

SuperX consists of a performance optimized 32-Bit PC X Server with an
intuitive user interface for ease of installation and operation. Also
included is a fast and efficient VxD-based TCP/IP kernel that provides
connectivity to the UNIX host. Up to 10 sessions may be run concurrently.
The product is fully compliant with MIT's X11 Release 5 specification and
allows the use of either the remote X window manager such as Motif or Open
Look or the local Microsoft Windows window manager.

"SuperX is an excellent mid-range product for companies that need access to
UNIX applications from their PCs," said Dr. Prakash Ambegaonkar, Frontier
Technologies President and CEO. "We have priced this product considerably
below competing products that include advanced functionality that many
users do not need."

SuperX key user benefits are:

* Increased PC end-user productivity and better decision making
through easy access to enterprise network applications and data from
within the familiar Microsoft Windows environment.

* Protection of existing PC hardware investments by eliminating the
need to purchase workstations or X terminals in order to provide
PC users with access to the enterprise network.

* Ability to deploy client-server applications using Microsoft Windows
without having to expend critical software development resources to
port and maintain applications on Microsoft Windows.

* Transparent access to the corporate network which allows PC users
to continue to work within their familiar Microsoft Windows
environment, thereby eliminating the need for end-users to learn
  a new computing environment.

SuperX is available in March 1995 and is priced at $295, single copy price,
with volume discounts available. The product can be ordered directly from
Frontier Technologies or through an extensive network of authorized
resellers.
