TeachFuzz: The fastest way to learn about Fuzzy Logic technology

What is Fuzzy Logic?

Fuzzy Logic is an alternative type of set theory. Moreover, Fuzzy Logic is
used to describe complex relationships linguistically. For instance, we
may describe a person as tall. Trying to encode the concept of tall into
traditional computer programming is quite challenging!

What are its Applications?

Fuzzy Logic is in use in many consumer products, among them are:

- Air Conditioners
- Anti-Lock Brakes
- Camcorders
- Microwave Ovens
- Refrigerators
- Toasters
- Vacuum Cleaners

What is TeachFuzz?

TeachFuzz is a learning tool that teaches you how to build your own fuzzy
logic controllers. Furthermore, it simulates the model you designed and
implemented. Results are generated based on the data you supply.

How To Use

Using TeachFuzz is easy. It consists of setting up a series of files that
the application expects, and evoking the application.

Executing TeachFuzz

TeachFuzz starts after the user selections are made. During each iteration,
TeachFuzz reads input values, applies them to its rule base, computes the
membership, and defuzzifies the output.

TeachFuzz Output

Although TeachFuzz outputs to a text file, you have several choices to
interpret the simulation results. The first is to look at the text file
directly. Often the resulting data is understandable in its textual form.
Otherwise you can use one of many third party plotting applications to
view the data graphically.

System Requirements

TeachFuzz works on either the Macintosh, or the PC platform. Software
requirements vary depending on the platform. For instance, the Macintosh
version works with MultiFinder and System 6.07 or greater. The PC version
works with MS-DOS version 5.0 or later. Hardware requirements also vary
depending on platform. Minimum system requirements for each platform are
presented below.

The minimum PC system requirements are:

- 386 processor
- 33 MHz clock
- 4 Meg RAM
- MS-DOS 5.0

The minimum Macintosh system requirements are:

- 68000 processor
- 16 MHz
- 4 Meg RAM
- System 6.07 or greater
