IBM Licenses AccessLine "Smart Number" Technology for Its Intelligent
Communications Service

SOMERS, NY, March 28, 1995 -- IBM and AccessLine Technologies today
announced an agreement under which IBM will use AccessLine's Smart Number
technology in an intelligent communications service that IBM currently has
in development. Smart Number technology will give users the ability to
consolidate and coordinate all phone numbers and services under one
number.

IBM is developing a personalized communications service that combines
voice, fax, email and remote LAN access to give business professionals a
simple, efficient way to stay in touch. For example, a traveling
professional will be able to easily direct urgent faxes and emails to the
nearest fax machine. Or, a private code number can be provided to key
contacts who must reach the professional at all times. IBM's intelligent
communications service will result in significant productivity
improvements by providing one location for storage and retrieval of all
forms of messages and by giving business professionals the ability to
"train" the system easily using intelligent agents to perform routine
tasks.

The combined technologies developed by IBM and AccessLine, will result in a
number of advanced capabilities in IBM's intelligent communications
service. When these services are available, customers will be able to have
one number for phone calls and faxes; intelligent call screening;
voicemail; fax routing; and "follow me" features, that allow users phone
calls and messages to be routed to wherever they are.

"The combination of AccessLine's application with IBM's advanced
technologies such as intelligent agents will give business users more
control of their day-to-day communications," said Brian McManus,
AccessLine's senior vice president of business development. "IBM is
clearly a step ahead of the competition in implementing advanced
communications solutions and technologies."

AccessLine Technologies, Inc., headquartered in Bellevue, Washington, is
