SPA Releases KeyAudit

A Software Management Tool for Macintosh

March 6, 1995 (Washington, D.C.) -- As part of its ongoing effort to fight
against the illegal copying of software, the Software Publishers
Association (SPA) announced today the distribution of a Macintosh based
auditing product named KeyAudit. KeyAudit, designed exclusively for the
Macintosh platform, expands and improves SPA's offerings to allow
corporations to stay, or become software legal. This newly released
program is the latest inclusion into SPA's extensive piracy protection and
education campaign.

KeyAudit works in association with SPA's Self Audit Kit, to assist
businesses, government and educational institutions in preparing an
inventory of software programs on their hard drives. KeyAudit and the self
audit kit are available free of charge by writing or calling the SPA.
Copies are also available on-line through CompuServe (GO: SPAforum and the
Internet: www.spa.org)

This new program, developed by Sassafras Software, Inc. is an easy to use
and useful tool in determining what Macintosh applications are installed
on a computer system. KeyAudit will provide the user with a summary of the
applications installed on the computer and provide an easy to read
printout of the results. Once the user of the program has these results,
they will be able to compare the results with their corporate purchasing
records and verify that all software used is authorized.

"We are thrilled to provide Macintosh users with an improved tool to
promote and encourage legal internal software use," said Sandra Sellers,
Director of Litigation for the Software Publishers Association. KeyAudit
and SPAudit for DOS will enable software managers to effectively and
easily monitor end users for copyright compliance.

KeyAudit is supported and distributed by the Software Publishers
Association and was developed by Sassafras Software, Inc.

The Software Publishers Association is the principal trade association of
the PC software industry. The SPA's anti-piracy hotline in the US,
800-388-7478, accepts calls reporting software copyright violations,
including information on pirate bulletin boards. The hotline receives more
than 100 calls per week about all forms of piracy. Its 1,150 members
represent the leading publishers in the business, consumer, and education
markets. The SPA has offices in Washington, DC, and Paris, France. SPA
press releases are available through CompuServe. (GO: SPAForum) .
