DIGITAL AND MITEL JOIN FORCES TO INTEGRATE COMPUTERS AND TELEPHONY

Joint Development of CTI Products to Offer "One Stop Shopping" Solution

KANATA, ONTARIO/MAYNARD, MASS. -- March 7, 1995 -- Digital Equipment
Corporation and Mitel Corporation today signed a joint development
agreement which is expected to establish the two companies as a key force
in the burgeoning computer telephony integration (CTI) marketplace. This
rapidly expanding market is expected to grow from less than $2 billion in
1993 to $5.6 billion in 1997, according to BIS Strategic Decisions of
Norwell, Massachusetts.

"Mitel and Digital bring a world-class act of complementary technology and
business skills to the Computer Telephony marketplace," commented Peter
Bohacek, vice president of the CTI Products Group at Mitel Corporation.
"This alliance will work to advance the convergence of the computer and
telephone into new and better ways to communicate."

Under the development agreement, the two companies jointly agree to combine
their expertise in an effort to develop a family of CTI computer products,
integrating computing and communications devices into a single unit. Both
parties will have an opportunity to commercialize any products developed
under this agreement. CTI technology soon will allow users easy access to
a variety of services, including integrated phone, fax, voice mail and
electronic mail -- at the desktop or remotely from any touch tone phone.

Jim Burton from CT Link in Boston, Massachusetts said, "Mitel and Digital
are both pioneers in the development of CTI technology. This is a natural
and complementary alliance that will undoubtedly further the development
of the CTI marketplace."

"This alliance will play a pivotal role in eliminating traditional computer
and telephone information access barriers," said Philippe Ribeyre,
Digital's vice president, Workstation Business Segment. "By blurring the
distinction between telephone keypad and the computer keyboard, users will
have complete command of their computer and telephone resources -- whether
from the desk, the car, the air or the hotel."

For example, a traveling executive will be able to retrieve voice mail and
electronic mail messages over the phone, or fax the messages to his or her
hotel, simply by using the telephone keypad," Ribeyre continued. "Whether
the users are 'road warriors', or located in workgroups or large
departments, this is one of many applications which will be available
through this technology."
