PROXIM INTRODUCES RangeLINK FAMILY OF HIGH SPEED INTER-BUILDING WIRELESS
REMOTE BRIDGES

RangeLINK Reduces Cost of High Speed Inter-Building Data Links by Over 40
Percent

MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA, March 13, 1995 -- Proxim, Inc., a leading supplier of
wireless data communications products, entered the inter-building remote
bridge market today with the introduction of its cost-effective RangeLINK
family. Available immediately, the RangeLINK product line includes a
number of speed and range options starting from $2,975.

RangeLINK offers a truly affordable solution for users seeking high speed
data links between buildings. Previously users have been required to dig a
trench to install their own cable, pay monthly leased line charges to the
phone company or purchase expensive wireless products that typically sold
at over $10,000 per pair.

"Our customers asked us for a solution that delivers not only high
throughput but reliability, ease of use and, most of all, affordability,"
said David King, Proxim's president and CEO. "The feedback from our
initial installations shows that RangeLINK meets our objectives in all
these areas. The introduction of high performance 2.4 GHz inter-building
products like RangeLINK takes on even more significance now in light of
the FCC's recent ruling limiting the use of 902 MHz products for outdoor
applications."

"With a transmission speed of 1.6 Mbps, RangeLINK is even faster than the
frame relay network we use at our Manitoba facilities," said Paul Moran,
Agpro Grain's network manager. "This fact, coupled with a low capital cost
and virtually maintenance-free operation is convincing us to replace frame
relay communications with RangeLINK at those facilities. After the
conversion is complete, monthly communications costs will be eliminated
and complete payback will take less than one year."

"RangeLINK brings new affordability to high speed building-to-building
networks. We expect it to play a major role in the expansion of this
market," said Brian Button, Proxim's vice president of marketing. "Now
users can combine RangeLINK and RangeLAN2 to build campus-area networks
featuring award-winning in-building wireless LAN products with superior
inter-building wireless bridges."

The RangeLINK Product Family

RangeLINK remotely bridges Ethernet LANs in buildings separated by up to
three miles using frequency hopping spread spectrum RF technology, a
highly secure, interference-immune technology employed in Proxim's
industry-leading RangeLAN2 product family. RangeLINK operates in the 2.4
GHz frequency band.

All RangeLINK models include everything needed for operation, including an
Ethernet interface, remote bridging software, a directional antenna with
mounting pieces and a long cable for convenient antenna location.
RangeLINK comes preconfigured for quick installation. No FCC license is
required to purchase or install a RangeLINK product.

"We were up and running in a matter of minutes," said Eric Kelly, MIS
director at Rochester Industrial Controls. "I leave RangeLINK running 24
hours a day. There' s really nothing to do--no maintenance, no
configuration. We literally turned the bridges on and we were ready to
go."

Two RangeLINK antenna options are available: an easy to install
semi-directional "patch" antenna and a higher gain directional "yagi" type
antenna for longer distances. With the patch antenna, RangeLINK bridges
are optimized for distances of up to 0.5 to 1 mile, while the yagi antenna
is capable of achieving ranges of up to 2 to 3 miles.

The RangeLINK family includes models (1000 series) with net throughput from
500 to 600 Kbps, available immediately; and high speed models (2000
series) with net throughput from 1,000 to 1,200 Kbps, available in May.

Headquartered in Mountain View, California, Proxim, Inc. (NASDAQ:PROX) was
founded in 1984 to develop and market wireless communications technology.
Since 1989, the company has been an industry-leading supplier of 902 MHz
and 2.4 GHz spread spectrum wireless data networking products. In 1994,
Proxim introduced RangeLAN2, its award-winning second generation frequency
hopping wireless LAN product family. To date, the company has shipped more
than 90,000 spread spectrum radio products. Proxim products are available
to resellers throughout North America from Anixter and Tech Data.
