MACINTOSH APPLICATION ENVIRONMENT 2.0 NOW AVAILABLE FOR SOLARIS/SPARC
USERS

Newest Version of Emulation Technology Offers Macintosh Environment to
Solaris 2.x Customers

MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA -- March 14, 1995 -- Furthering its commitment to provide
Solaris users with their choice of applications, SunSoft, Inc., in
conjunction with Apple Computer, Inc., today announced the availability of
Macintosh Application Environment (MAE) 2.0. MAE 2.0 is emulation software
that allows users to run Macintosh applications with significant
interoperability between UNIX and Mac OS environemtns on SPARC-based
platforms. A product of Apple Computer, Inc., MAE 2.0 offers significant
performance and networking enhancements, including support for AppleTalk,
MacTCP, and improved support for NFS.

MAE 2.0, which emulates a Macintosh on a SPARC workstation running Solaris
2.3 or 2.4, provides customers with the full Macintosh environment in an X
window, including Finder functionality. In addition, MAE 2.0 supports
AppleTalk, allowing for easy MAE-to-Macintosh networking, and MacTCP,
which allows access to Internet and TCP/IP-based applications.

MAE 2.0 allows Solaris/SPARC customers to run most Macintosh applications
in the Solaris environment. Together, Solaris and MAE 2.0 provide seamless
integration between UNIX and Macintosh environments, with benefits such as
access to network devices and printers, cut and paste of text and graphics
between Solaris and Macintosh applications, and the ability to drag and
drop files to new directories or folders.

"MAE 2.0 is one more successful step forward in SunSoft's mission to
provide users with a universal desktop," said Dave Power, vice president
and general manager of SunSoft's PC Desktop Integration Products. "Just as
Wabi, our breakthrough translation software technology, enables the most
popular Windows applications to run at high performance levels on
UNIX-based workstations and servers, MAE 2.0 permits our Solaris 2.x
customers to access Macintosh applications."
