Information America Adds 29 Million Filings to Its Public Record Service

Information America (IA), a West Publishing affiliate, has announced the
addition of more than 29 million public record filings to its already
extensive online service. Upon completion of all phases of this project,
more than 200 enhancements and additions will have been made to the IA
product line.

These additions and enhancements include:

 * Business liens, judgments and lawsuits from 1,706 jurisdictions.
 * Business bankruptcy cases from all 184 federal district courts
   nationwide.
 * Uniform Commercial Code (UCC) business and personal filings
from 50 states and the District of Columbia.

The lawsuit and bankruptcy phases of this project have recently been
completed. IA now offers business lawsuit coverage from approximately 400
counties in 40 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico. Business
bankruptcy cases are now available from all 50 states, the District of
Columbia, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands. The liens, judgments and UCC
phases of the project should be completed by the second quarter of 1995.

The new information is being added to more than 200 different IA products
and services including Sleuth, IA's exclusive service that uncovers
business relationships.

"Since Information America was founded in 1982, our customers have wanted
to know when we will have more complete national coverage," said Buck
Goldstein, president, Information America. "Although our current resources
supplied us with excellent information, they could not extend to us the
nationwide coverage we desired. This new initiative gives us the most
comprehensive public records service in the industry."

In addition to creating broader geographic coverage, many of the new
products contain information not readily available online, such as
collateral for UCC filings and the dollar amount of all legal judgments.
Goldstein commented, "We're now able to offer our customers information
that the competition just doesn't have. It's the customers who are the
true winners in this initiative."

As a result of an October 1994 merger between IA and West Publishing,
public records data and investigative services from Information America
will soon be available to subscribers of WESTLAW, West's computer-assisted
legal research service. "Our customers have expressed a need for expanded
public records coverage, so we're bringing them the best coverage
available," said Thomas J. McLeod, West's vice president of WESTLAW
Account Management and Government Relations. "With this access to
Information America's services, WESTLAW subscribers will have a single,
comprehensive tool for their legal, business and background research
needs."

West Publishing, headquartered in Eagan, Minnesota, is the nation's premier
publisher of legal materials. For 120 years, West has provided its
customers with timely and accurate editorially enhanced information,
including judicial decisions, statutes and treatises. Today, that

Libraries and WESTLAW.
