ACC Bolsters Its Internetworking Product Arsenal with the Yukon IP/IPX
Frame Relay Bridge/Router

Ideal solution for remote and small office users in need of Frame Relay
connectivity to regional or corporate locations, or for connection to the
Internet

Santa Barbara, Calif. (October 2, 1995) -- Advanced Computer
Communications, Inc. (ACC), the worldwide leader in internetworking access
solutions, today introduced the Yukon IP/IPX Frame Relay Branch Office
Bridge/Router. This is ACC's newest LAN/WAN connectivity solution designed
to give users at remote sites access to both private and public Frame
Relay networks. The Yukon is standards-based allowing for interoperability
with Frame Relay switches from Newbridge, Cascade, and StrataCom.

The Yukon product family features full support of bridging and routing
protocols, and includes ACC's exclusive Bandwidth Optimization technology
to dramatically reduce network operating costs. Best of all, Yukon IP/IPX
Frame Relay pricing starts at $1,395, giving it the best price/performance
for a full feature remote access Frame Relay bridge/router in the market
today.

The easy to install Yukon IP/IPX Frame Relay features a single autosensing
Ethernet interface which allows connectivity to either a 10BaseT network
through an RJ-45 connector, or a 10Base5 network through an AUI connector.
The Yukon also offers a choice of V.35 or integral CSU/DSU interface for
U.S. domestic WAN connections or X.21 for European locations. Interface
status is indicated through LEDs mounted on the rear of the Yukon
enclosure.

Versatility and Routing Power

With the introduction of the Yukon IP/IPX Frame Relay, there are now three
models of the Yukon available: the Yukon IP ISDN Small Office, Remote
Office Bridge/Router which supports true network-level routing of TCP/IP
along with concurrent 802.1D bridging; the Yukon IP/IPX ISDN Small Office,
Remote Office Bridge/Router which supports network-level TCP/IP and Novell
IPX routing with concurrent bridging; and the Yukon IP/IPX Frame Relay
Branch Office Bridge/Router which offers Frame Relay access for branch and
home office users who need connectivity to regional or corporate
locations, and/or for access to the Internet.

Versatility in Application

The Yukon IP/IPX Frame Relay can be used in remote applications at
effective transfer rates up to 512 Kbps. With its rich set of Bandwidth
Optimization features, the Yukon extracts the highest performance from
Frame Relay.

* SMALL BRANCH OFFICES: Because of its support of TCP/IP and IPX routing,
the Yukon is ideal for branch and home office applications. Although it is
targeted at the "small" branch office, there are no limitations in the
size of the Ethernet to which the Yukon may be attached.

* HOME OFFICES: With its clean design, easy installation, and outstanding
value, the Yukon puts true network-level routing within the reach of the
demanding power home office/telecommuter user. The Yukon is ideal for
telecommuting and surfing the Internet -- doing both simultaneously.

* INTERNET ACCESS: As the popularity of Internet browsers such as Mosaic
and Netscape grows, the demand for higher performance Internet access is
skyrocketing. The Yukon provides the power user with the highest
performance Internet access available today. Standards-based protocol
support ensures that the Yukon will work in an Internet Access environment
offering Frame Relay.

ACC's Exclusive Bandwidth Optimization Included

Like ACC's other WAN connectivity products, Yukon IP/IPX Frame Relay
supports ACC's exclusive set of Bandwidth Optimization features - - a
combination of connectivity features that help to optimize the cost of
wide-area links -- at no additional charge. The Yukon supports Data
Compression, which can increase Frame Relay throughput up to four times
without requiring a costly increase in guaranteed CIR. The Yukon's data
compression is based on the Lempel-Ziv algorithm, and can improve data
throughput by an aggregate factor of 4:1. For example, with data
compression, the Yukon's 56/64 Kbps Frame Relay connection can deliver the
same throughput as a 512 Kbps Fractional T1 link.

The Yukon IP/IPX Frame Relay also supports Express Queuing, which was
developed by ACC to cover a predictable network response for all WAN link
users. Normally, bridge and router systems have to be manually manipulated
to prioritize connections according to the type of protocol. With Express
Queuing, the Yukon automatically senses which sessions have been
established and maintains those sessions, allocating the appropriate
amount of bandwidth until the session is finished. With Express Queuing,
Telnet and other types of interactive sessions will not time-out due to
large file transfers sharing the same link, an important benefit when
external network congestion can slow and delay transmission rates

The Yukon supports SNMP for in-band network management, and has a RS-232
console port for out-of-band management. ACC's SNAP implementation is
MIB-II compatible, and includes the SNMP SET operation.

Value Priced

"ACC's goal has been to extend our product family to address a broad
spectrum of users and with the announcement of the Yukon IP/IPX Frame
Relay Branch Office Bridge/Router, we now offer a product which makes
Frame Relay connectivity at the remote site even more affordable," noted
Peter Curtin, director of product marketing

for ACC. "However, when looking over the impressive suite of features which
are offered with the Yukon, the one which stands out above all the others
is our ability to establish a leadership position in price
affordability."

Single unit pricing of the Yukon IP/IPX Frame Relay Branch Office
Bridge/Router starts at $1,395. The Yukon IP/IPX Frame Relay with integral
CSU/DSU is available for $1,795. The integral CSU/DSU is also available as
an option for ACC's Danube and Nile router products for $750. All products
are available for immediate shipment.
