ALGOR AND PAULIN RESEARCH GROUP JOIN FORCES TO PRODUCE A NEW GENERATION OF
PIPE STRESS DESIGN AND ANALYSIS SOFTWARE

October 12, 1995, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania -- Algor, Inc., a leading maker
of finite element modeling and ngineering analysis software for
workstations and Pentiums, today announced it has entered into a long-term
strategic relationship with the Paulin Research Group to develop and
market engineering software for piping stress and vibration analysis
systems.

Anthony Paulin of the Paulin Research Group is a leading expert in pipe
stress analysis software and the original developer of CAESAR II, a
popular piping software package that does a broad range of ASME code
checking. "Algor and Paulin Research Group will actively address needs and
suggestions from Algor's customers to deliver enhanced capabilities in
PipePak and related additional software," said Michael L. Bussler,
president and chief executive officer of Pittsburgh-based Algor, Inc. By
combining the strengths of Algor and Paulin Research Group, Algor will
offer these new products:

FE Pipe - Software using the finite element method that enables more
detailed analyses of critical sections of piping systems, nozzles, bends
with trunnions, tanks and heat exchangers. These detailed analyses employ
plate/shell and eight-node "brick" elements for greater accuracy. FE Pipe
contains a special solver that automatically computes stress
intensification factors, allowable loads and flexibility. The localized,
finite element modeler automatically creates the finite element model from
such parameters as weld size, diameter and wall thickness.

BOS Fluids - Software that predicts pressure and velocities at all points
in the system. It also predicts vapor formation (column separation) in the
flow, which can cause severe vibration or damage to pipe systems. Both
steady-state and transient analyses are available. "The synergies that we
expect by combining the resources of our two organizations in the pipe
stress and vessel design areas will revolutionize software for engineers
that is more interactive, cost-effective, easy-to-use and focused on
solving real-world challenges," said Bussler.

Algor plans to integrate FE Pipe, CAESAR II and PipePak so that users can:

* Import the piping system geometry from PipePak or CAESAR II.

* Automatically export results from FE Pipe for further vibration
  and nonlinear analysis.

* Operate PipePak, FE Pipe and CAESAR II completely by common
  interactive graphics.

Algor also plans to integrate BOS Fluids with PipePak so that users can:

* Automatically transfer the piping system geometry developed in
  PipePak to BOS Fluids.

* Automatically transfer results from BOS Fluids to PipePak for
  further stress and vibration analysis.

* Operate both BOS Fluids and PipePak fully by common interactive
  graphics.
