ALGOR NOW OFFERS WINDOWS 95 VERSION OF ENGINEERING SOFTWARE

OCTOBER 17, 1995, PITTSBURGH, PENNSYLVANIA -- Pittsburgh-based Algor, Inc.
today announced that it has introduced a new version of its complete line
of mechanical engineering analysis and design optimization software called
the "WIN" Line that runs on both Windows 95 and Windows NT.

Algor, which has had software for Windows NT for more than two years,
released its "WIN" Line software on September 29, 1995.

"Our 'WIN' Line uses the full 32-bit capacity of Windows 95, and takes
advantage of Windows 95's significant advancements over both DOS Hyper and
Windows 3.1, including better graphics, pop-up file menus and built-in
functionality for cutting, pasting and printing graphics," said Michael L.
Bussler, president and chief executive officer of Algor, one of the
leading makers of mechanical engineering and design optimization software
for workstations and Pentiums.

"Algor software combined with Windows 95, is the first operating system
other than Windows NT that enables engineers fully to exploit the power
and speed of Pentium computers for engineering class software," said
Bussler.

The "WIN" Line software has internal switches which automatically detect
under which of the two operating systems the Algor software is running and
optimizes for that system, according to Bussler.

Algor's "WIN" Line takes advantage of several high-end computing features
of Windows 95 and Windows NT, such as:

* Preemptive multi-tasking, which enables users to run more than
  one application simultaneously;
* Symmetric multi-processing, which coordinates multiple tasks across
  multiple processors;
* Built-in networking;
* Portability to a wide range of computer systems; and
* Ability to create icons that will activate the end-users' most
  often used files.

"Mechanical and design engineers will now harness a powerful combination of
Windows 95's performance and Algor's speed, power and ease-of-use," said
Bussler.

Algor offers its complete line of finite element analysis software in "WIN"
versions, including linear stress analysis, nonlinear, composite material,
vibration and natural frequency, steady state and transient heat transfer,
electrostatic, steady state and transient flow, and ASME pipe analysis.
Kinematics and rigid-body dynamics software will eventually be available
in "WIN" versions as well.

Algor also offers its complete line of design and modeling software tools
in "WIN" versions, including Houdini 3.0, which is the first and only
software that enables engineers automatically to generate eight-node
"brick" finite element models directly from virtually any CAD solid
modeling source.

Algor, Inc. is a leading maker of mechanical engineering analysis and
design optimization software which runs under UNIX, Windows NT and Windows
95. More than 11,000 engineers in more than 60 countries use Algor
software. It is virtually impossible to spend a day without using a
product Algor's software helped to engineer. Products as diverse as fast
food restaurant furniture and meal containers, Black and Decker's
"Dustbuster," Nautilus exercise equipment and B.F. Goodrich tires were all
engineered with the help of Algor Software.
