Vienna, VA, October 25, 1995 -- America Online, Inc., announced today that
it continues to be the leader as the most popular Internet provider for
consumers. Each day, AOL processes more than 13 million hits on the Web,
delivers email to 4 million people -- half of which is Internet mail, and
AOL members post more than 70,000 messages to Newsgroups. In fact,
according to a recent Internet User Survey conducted by Find/SVP, AOL is
currently the most commonly cited Internet access method used from home.

Additionally, AOL has announced four new forums in AOL's Internet
Connection which invite Internet newbies and pros alike to participate
with popular Internet personalities to find out what the Net has to offer.
Also, new Internet features give members the ability use their computers
as FTP sites, attach lengthy files to email over the Internet, more easily
organize the information they send and receive online, run Internet
applications, and connect via TCP/IP.

"We continue to be the most popular Internet service provider offering our
members complete Internet access and the ability to publish home pages on
the Web," said Steve Case, President and CEO, America Online, Inc. "We
want to continue to provide members with an onramp to the Internet and
provide the tools and education to help AOL members feel comfortable in
taking advantage of the gateways to the Internet integrated into the AOL
service."

The four new forums offered in the Internet Connection include: "NetGirl,"'
a cyberrelationships forum that addresses compelling online issues --
moderated by journalist and author Rosalind Resnick; "In Business,"' a
complete guide for small business and entrepreneurs in companies large and
small who want to take advantage of the Internet for doing business --
moderated by "Netrepreneurs" and best selling authors Jill and Matthew
Ellsworth; "AnswerMan," ' a welcome wagon and learning tool forum for AOL
members who are new to the Internet -- moderated by author and journalist
Kevin Savetz; and "Pro's Corner,"' a forum for experienced Internet users
who want to get the most out of (and reach beyond) the tools and gateways
integrated into the AOL service -- moderated by established Internet
consultants Rich Wiggins and Gabe Goldberg. Additionally, AOL's Internet
Connection educates its members about the Internet with FAQs (answers to
frequently asked questions about the Internet), lists of Internet
Organizations, a searchable copy of Zen and the Art of the Internet, and
guidelines on how to best use each Internet feature.

New Features

AOL now offers members several new Internet features. As the only one of
the three largest consumer online services to offer the ability to attach
binary files over the Internet, AOL provides members the ability to send
and receive any kind of digital information (including graphics and
programs) over the Internet or on other services connected to the
Internet. Additionally, a new "filegrabber" feature instantly combines,
captures and converts encoded USENET newsgroup messages into user readable
files. Members can now take advantage of the wide variety of shareware and
multimedia files available in newsgroup without the tedium of manually
downloading and decoding them one by one. Also, AOL members have the
ability to connect via TCP/IP. Anyone with direct access to the Internet
can take advantage of AOL's diverse programming, with no extra costs, at
full Internet speed.

AOL members now have the benefit of accessing Internet applications by
using the Winsock feature that is available through AOL's Windows
platform. In the past, Internet applications required direct Internet
connections. But now applications such as Telnet (text connection into a
remote computer), RealAudio and Internet Relay Chat can now be accessed
using the new AOL Winsock. Through their AOL connection members can, for
no additional charge, communicate with other systems by using the Internet
Protocol, which is the standard for Internet communication. AOL provides
its members with detailed instructions on how they can utilize these
programs within the AOL Winsock forum or at keyword: Winsock.

These new capabilities join an extensive list of features that AOL has
offered to members as part of Internet Connection. These include: an
easy-to-use integrated browser to access the World Wide Web, publishing
with AOL's Personal Publisher, search and retrieve FTP files, access to
more than 20,000 Newsgroups, access to Gopher and WAIS databases, mailing
lists, and search capabilities with WebCrawler.
