America Online Launches New Web Site and Give Back to the Net Program

Vienna, VA, October 25, 1995 -- America Online, Inc., has unveiled today
its new Web site, providing AOL members with a comprehensive dashboard to
the World Wide Web while inviting Internet surfers into the AOL community.
The site, at http://www.aol.com, features up-to-date information about the
company and the service, the ability to download the latest AOL software,
the power to search the Internet with AOL provided tools, the chance to
see original content and the opportunity to explore highlighted hypertext
"hot links" chosen by AOL.

Additionally, AOL announced the Give Back to the Net (tm) program, which
supports the creation and maintenance of valuable Internet resources and
eases access to Internet resources that are currently overburdened.

"AOL has led the way in bringing a new class of consumers to the Internet
-- now we want to provide the Internet community with a gateway to America
Online," said Steve Case, President and CEO, America Online, Inc. "With a
vast array of fresh and ever changing content, we aim to offer an engaging
and exciting Web experience that reflects what AOL offers as a whole."

The Web site features five main content areas: What's Hot, Explore,
Community, Give Back and About AOL.

* What's Hot draws attention to outstanding sites each day and highlights
happenings on the Web site and the America Online service.

* Explore features resources that will help Internauts find what they are
looking for on the Internet such as AOL's own Internet Directory which
offers concise descriptions and reviews of popular sites as well as access
to Yahoo, GNN and WebCrawler.

* Community offers links to home pages created by AOL members and
employees; web pages exhibiting AOL's channels with original content and
relevant links to everything from sports to personal finance; and
submissions, stories and Web-wide sites of interest to AOL members and
Internet surfers alike.

* Give Back is America Online's way of supporting the Internet community by
donating hardware, connectivity, mirroring and funding important resources
that are just entering the online world or are scaling up to meet
increased demand.

* About AOL gives visitors the who, what, where, when, and why of America
Online. Visitors can tour the online service or the corporate
headquarters, download AOL software, and study up on AOL history and
current events by reading press releases.

The Give Back to the Net program includes "mirrors.aol.com" -- an Internet
FTP (file transfer protocol) site that duplicates, or "mirrors," the
content of several popular Internet software repositories, including the
Info-Mac and University of Michigan Macintosh software archives, the
Usenet FAQ archive at MIT, and the WinSite archive at Indiana University;
Internet "listserv" mailing list hosting and indexing; and "WebCrawler" --
a Web indexing and searching service that AOL hosts on its servers and
makes available to the Internet as a public service.

America Online is also working with external groups such as The EnviroLink
Network, a grassroots community that has grown into the Internet's largest
environmental information service; Total New York, an e-zine sponsoring a
landmark Internet Tour throughout the United States; and West Ceneca
Central Schools, a school district in northern New York where high school
students will learn how to publish information on the Internet.

America Online will continue to expand the Give back to the Net Program and
encourages people to contact "BackToNet@aol.com" to suggest resources that
should receive support.
