Features To Include Exclusive Programming, Original Features By Anthony
DeCurtis, Artist Showcases, Multimedia Galleries, Music First News

New York, NY, October 10, 1995 -- VH1 will launch its own area on America
Online, on October 10 it was announced by John Sykes, President, VH1. The
launch represents VH1's first permanent area on a commercial online
service. VH1 has had an active site on the Internet's World Wide Web since
April of 1995.

VH1 Online will be the global electronic source for the music and music
culture that matter to the VH1 viewer. The America Online (AOL) area will
carry a variety of programming, including live online events, daily music
news, and behind-the-scenes coverage of VH1 events. True to its "Music
First" doctrine, VH1 Online also features an impressive collection of
multimedia offerings, including video, photographs, and sound bites from
key VH1 artists. Award-winning music journalist and VH1 Editorial Director
Anthony DeCurtis will contribute a weekly column called "Anthony's Music
Diary," which will reveal DeCurtis' own thoughts on life in the music
world. Additional content will be developed, including original and
exclusive music articles written expressly for VH1 Online, as well as a
cache of prime-time programming featuring special online versions of VH1
series.

VH1 Online on America Online features a fully customized design, created by
VH1 with a team of independent designers, which reflects the channel's
on-air look, including its textured backgrounds, icons, and fonts. In
addition to its programming, VH1 Online features areas where users can
talk back -- both to VH1 and to each other. There are also a number of
electronic shopping opportunities. In the area called "The Goods," online
users can buy VH1 merchandise; VH1 will also be testing the sale of CDs
online.

"VH1 Online, with its AOL area and Internet site, represents a combined
effort to present a unique, multidimensional counterpart to VH1's on-air
programming," said John Sykes, President, VH1. "The content remains 'Music
First' to the core, but it's being delivered in a whole new way, and in a
medium the VH1 audience has been instrumental in popularizing."

The partnership between VH1 and America Online first began in September
1994, when VH1 ran an online contest in conjunction with a weekend of
programming in tribute to the music of The Who. In January, 1995, VH1
partnered with Warner Brothers to create a temporary area on AOL featuring
programming in support of its live on-air Tom Petty: Tickets First event.

VH1's World Wide Web site on the Internet was first activated in April of
1995, originally for use as an interactive component to various on-air
events, from the live Melissa Etheridge Tickets First event, to the 1995
VH1 Honors, during which on-the-scene coverage was provided to Web users
via Quicktake still photos, and a backstage "spy-cam" video link. The
site, which is being revamped with a new look and Web address, will
continue to feature on-air events, in addition to serving as a testing
ground for new interactive technology as it relates to music.

We are delighted VH1 has joined with America Online to expand its online
presence and add a new dimension to its music offering," said Ted Leonsis,
President of America Online Services Company. "With its new area on AOL,
VH1 continues to go beyond the traditional media to create a new level of
creative expression and interactivity for music lovers in cyberspace and
beyond."

World Wide Web address is http://www.vh1.com.
