Apple Offers One-Click Access to Cool Web Sites

Preselected Web Sites Now Available From Within eWorld; New WebCity Gazette
Offers 'Internet News' on eWorld's WebCity Home Page

CUPERTINO, California--October 10, 1995--People who want to visit the most
popular sites on the World Wide Web no longer have to wander through the
sometimes strange, slow, and scary byways of the Internet. Rather, using
the most recent version of eWorld, Apple's online service, people can view
the best of the 'Net from the friendly environs and easy-to-understand
structure of the eWorld neighborhood.

The latest enhancements to eWorld, rolled out today, integrate preselected
World Wide Web sites into eWorld's graphical buildings. This means that
eWorld users no longer have to log on separately to the Internet and
wander through the maze of different directories in order to find the Web
sites they want. Instead, they can simply visit the intelligently and
simply organized eWorld buildings and have one-click access to an array of
Web sites and eWorld publisher sites that complement each other.

eWorld buildings are Apple's metaphor for organizing information on the
service. For example, the Learning Center has academic resources for
educators and students; the Computer Center has exclusive direct on-line
support from Apple and oceans of data about high technology products, and
so on.

"We're trying to take the choppy waters out of surfing the 'Net," said
Peter Friedman, vice president of Apple Internet Services, the Apple
division responsible for eWorld and all Apple Internet content and
services development. "Today's announcement furthers our goal in providing
our on-line passengers with a smooth and graceful send-off to their
Internet voyages. It also underscores the power of applying Apple's
industry-leading interface design expertise to on-line navigation. We aim
to make surfing the 'Net as simple as using a Macintosh."

Select Web sites are listed in directories beside eWorld's own content. To
access eWorld content users simply click on a descriptive icon and are
transported in a flash to the Web page or eWorld publisher requested. All
content--including Internet sites--has been topically and alphabetically
categorized to improve navigation through the service. Short descriptions
of each content area help subscribers find the information that most
interests them--before they travel there.

In a related announcement, Apple Internet Services announced that it has
added a new publication to its growing portfolio of World Wide Web
offerings. WebCity Gazette, announced today, is a biweekly update about
Internet content developments that are of interest to Apple customers.
Typically, each WebCity Gazette will have a spotlight on a current event,
like the recent UN Conference on Women, and will point users to relevant
Web sites to visit. In addition, each issue will include an in-depth
feature on various popular sites, providing more than the usual one-line
description. The WebCity Gazette URL is:
http://www.eworld.com/gazette/times/. Both announcements support the
company's ongoing strategy to greatly increase its presence on the
Internet and World Wide Web.

eWorld is a powerful, yet easy-to-use, global family of on-line services
from Apple Computer, Inc., which include eWorld for Macintosh and
NewtonMail--eWorld's messaging service for Newton personal digital
assistants. Included on most Apple Macintosh computers, the software is
also available free to all U.S. Macintosh users by calling
1-800-775-4556.

Apple Computer, Inc., a recognized pioneer and innovator in the information
industry, creates powerful solutions based on easy-to-use personal
computers, servers, peripherals, software, on-line services, and personal
