Cisco partners with AT&T CMS on network switch manufacturing

SEPTEMBER 26, 1995 -- GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Cisco Systems, Inc., has selected
the AT&T Custom Manufacturing Services (AT&T CMS) unit here as its
manufacturing partner for the Catalyst 5000 Ethernet-to-ATM network switch
and follow-on products.

"The full-service, total manufacturing capabilities offered by AT&T CMS,
combined with their partnering-driven operating style, aligns well with
Cisco's strategy to utilize virtual manufacturing solutions," said Carl
Redfield, Cisco vice president of manufacturing. "We're excited at the
prospect of a Cisco/AT&T CMS relationship as we strive to shape the future
of global internetworking."

The Catalyst 5000 network switch product line provides a migration path to
asynchronous transfer mode (ATM) networks via Ethernet and Fast Ethernet.
The switch includes virtual LAN support and a 155- Mbps ATM interface for
backbone networks. Catalyst 5000 is a key component for user migration to
ATM networks because it will work with Ethernet -- the most commonly used
network.

AT&T CMS will support the Catalyst 5000 program at its ISO 9002-certified
Little Rock, Arkansas, Custom Manufacturing Center. Additional programs
are slated for the AT&T CMS Greensboro, N.C., manufacturing facility.

"Our focus on total manufacturing solutions for complex communications
systems, combined with our legendary quality and resources proved a
compelling match for Cisco's needs" said Chris Grubby, AT&T CMS business
operations director. "Coupling Cisco's innovative products with AT&T CMS'
capabilities will further propel Cisco's leadership position."

AT&T has offered electronics manufacturing services since 1985, with AT&T
CMS becoming a separate AT&T business unit in 1993. Already among the
elite $100,000,000-plus revenue EMSI players, AT&T CMS specializes in
full-service, final-system build solutions for networked, wireless, and
multimedia communications products. Services offered cover all phases of
the product development life cycle -- from design support through turnkey
assembly to distribution and servicing of customers' products. AT&T CMS
operates manufacturing facilities in Greensboro, NC and Little Rock, Ark.

Cisco Systems, Inc., is the leading global supplier of enterprise networks,
including routers, LAN and ATM switches, dial-up access servers and
network management software. These products, integrated by the Cisco
IOS™, Cisco Internetwork Operating System, link geographically
dispersed LANs, WANs, and IBM networks. Cisco is headquartered in San
