Manage a network with Windows PC using AT&T Customer Direct

October 2, 1995 -- BASKING RIDGE, N.J. -- AT&T today announced new software
for ordering and tracking toll-free calling via AT&T Customer Direct, a
Windows- based network management platform that integrates inbound and
outbound services.

In January 1996, large and mid-sized AT&T customers can order 800 service
electronically using Order It!, and review incoming toll- free calls two
minutes after disconnection through Track It!, an on-line call-detail
application already enhanced to distinguish between 800 numbers and the
new toll-free 888 numbers coming next March.

"We continue to lead the industry in providing network management tools,"
said Sally Muscarella, AT&T marketing vice president. "The unique
capabilities of Order It! and Track It! give our customers new power to
control the shape, performance and cost of their inbound and outbound
voice networks -- with the push of a button on a Windows- based PC."

Known as On-Line Call Detail Manager (OCDM) before it joined the Customer
Direct platform, Track It! lets managers monitor call traffic and call
center performance in near real-time. Because call information can be
reviewed moments after the call is finished, Track It! gives quick
feedback on the success of toll-free promotions. Geographical areas of
strongest response show up vividly on map-based reports. Track It! can
also help reduce fraud and prank calls by rapidly pinpointing their
origin.

A special "re-try" report in Track It! captures the calling number of calls
that don't get through and analyzes each caller's "re-try behavior" based
on adjustable parameters. The result is a list of phone numbers that call
center operators can use to recover lost sales or proactively contact
service customers.

Other powerful options in Track It! let managers analyze calling
information for both inbound and outbound calls by date, time of day, area
code, phone number of caller, and more.

Order It! has also been designed to include the new toll-free 888 prefix
that will be available in March. Until then, Software Defined Network
(SDN), AT&T OneNet and Virtual Telecommunications Network Services (VTNS)
customers can use Order It! to speed the process of ordering prereserved
AT&T ReadyLine 800 numbers, and to track status as orders are completed.

Today customers can also use Order It! to submit orders for virtual on-net
locations, switched access, cellular and intraLATA services within AT&T's
SDN, OneNet, and VTNS offers.

The next addition to the Customer Direct platform, expected later in 1996,
will be a Windows-based toll-free service call routing application for
efficient management of inbound traffic.

AT&T Customer Direct

Formally announced early in 1995, AT&T Customer Direct now has six powerful
network management applications in an easy-to-use Windows environment. In
addition to Order It! and Track It!, SDN, OneNet, and VTNS customers also
have Manage It!, Control It!, Optimize It!, and Analyze It!

Manage It! lets customers control software defined network configuration
through authorization codes, flexible routing and screening groups. With
Manage It! customers can upload configuration changes that become
effective within 15 minutes, or download a complete inventory of network
locations and features to a PC.

Control It! gives customers the ability to monitor network costs, outbound
call volume and network integrity. Optimize It! improves network
productivity by giving easy access to information on inbound and outbound
calls completed, line load and traffic trends.

Customer Direct's billing analysis tool, Analyze It!, was recently expanded
to handle billing information for 800 services along with SDN, OneNet, and
VTNS. Called AT&T Billing Edge&#153; in its standalone form, Analyze It!
delivers monthly billing information and sophisticated analysis software
on a CD-ROM.

Customers can order Customer Direct as an entire platform or by individual
components. There is no charge for Order It! and Analyze It!. There is a
$100 charge per month for unlimited database access for Custom SDN
customers using Manage It!, Control It! or Optimize It! The new
application, Track It!, costs $450 for installation, plus $15 per month
per copy, plus a charge for volume of calls reported.
