Free Software Demonstrates What-If Analog Circuit Design

World-Wide Web Site Offers Demonstration Version of Avista Spectre/XL

September 21, 1995 -- Folsom, Calif., September 21-Avista Design Systems
announces Avista Spectre/XL, "the what-if solution for analog circuit
design", is now available in a free demonstration version from its
World-Wide Web site. Avista Spectre/XL embeds circuit simulation inside
Microsoft Excel, the world's most popular analysis and presentation
package. Avista Spectre/XL's combination of immediate access to all
circuit values, and instant what-if analysis gives analog designers a
uniquely flexible tool for evaluating, developing and optimizing circuit
designs.

Complete Demonstration Package

The demonstration package of Avista Spectre/XL includes the same simulation
and analysis capabilities as the production version. Features such as fast
and accurate calculation of steady-state non-linear response, extensive
component-sweep capability, and circuit optimization give analog designers
a more productive analog design environment. Several example circuits such
as a differential amplifier, a 5-pole Chebychev active filter, totem-pole
output circuit, and a common-emitter amplifier are provided to illustrate
the different kinds of what-if analysis in Avista Spectre/XL.

The demonstration version can only run circuits created with the production
version of Avista Spectre/XL. Besides creating new circuits, the
production version of Avista Spectre/XL can use existing SPICE device
models and netlists, so engineers can leverage their current investment in
simulation models and circuit designs.

A detailed demonstration guide that has over six chapters with full-color
illustrations is included in the package. Avista Spectre/XL requires
Microsoft Excel for Windows version 5.0.
