BERKELEY SYSTEMS ANNOUNCES SEARCH FOR AFFILIATE LABELS

BERKELEY, CALIF. (OCTOBER 2, 1995) -- Berkeley Systems, Inc. today
announced plans to search for affiliate labels, with a primary focus on
entertainment software titles. The eight year old software company, best
known for its After Dark Screen Saver, is a producer of utility and
entertainment titles, including a recent move into the gaming arena with
the irreverent pop-culture quiz show game, YOU DON'T KNOW JACK. Berkeley
Systems' search for partnerships will not be limited solely to affiliate
labels, which primarily involves work in distribution and sales. Berkeley
is also planning on moving into republishing, aiding relationships with
its expertise in engineering and art development.

"We are looking to expand Berkeley's portfolio of titles with an aggressive
affiliates label program," stated Kevin Hunt, Berkeley's Director of
Retail Sales. "Our goal is to establish a few key relationships that are a
synergy of internal and external creative talent, solidifying Berkeley's
place as a market leader in consumer software."

With products carried in an estimated 20,000 retail locations in North
America alone, Berkeley Systems represents a software company with both
substantial market share and consumer level recognition. Berkeley's
products are found not only in software stores, but in computer
superstores and mass merchants, like Walmart and Target, as well. Berkeley
Systems is also expanding quickly in foreign markets, with a large market
presence in Japan and the Pacific Rim and a developing market in Europe.

With such high-profile entertainment titles as The Disney Collection Screen
Saver, The Looney Tunes Screen Saver, and Star Trek: The Next Generation
Screen Saver, Berkeley Systems has a proven track record of successful
relationships. Even before Berkeley announced its intent to court
affiliate labels, the company had been aggressively pursued by numerous
publishers over the years. Berkeley's latest product, YOU DON'T KNOW JACK,
is developed in cooperation with Jellyvision, a Chicago-based producer of
educational films. This partnership has produced one of the hottest new
game titles to hit the market this year. An irreverent quiz show game with
a decidedly wacky bent, YOU DON'T KNOW JACK is a fast-paced mix of
traditional and pop-culture references that makes for an
adrenaline-pumping gaming experience.
