COMPUSERVE ANNOUNCES FIRST WORLDWIDE $4.95 INTERNET SERVICE

The Most Cost Effective Way to Get an E-mail Address, Surf the Web and
Create Your Own Home Page

SEATTLE, Wash., Oct. 4, 1995 - CompuServes Internet Division today
announced the first worldwide consumer Internet service, code-named
SPRYTE. Priced at $4.95 per month, CompuServes service will make the
Internet available for every household.

"For the cost of a burger and fries, every family can now join the Internet
community," said Tim Oren, vice president and general manager of
CompuServe's Internet Division. "We're making it easy for every person to
communicate with his or her friends, relatives and colleagues online,
around the world. Having an Internet address and Web page are becoming
expectations, just like the fax and phone number before them. We're
growing the worldwide Internet by filling these needs at an affordable
consumer price point."

SPRYTE is the first worldwide Internet service to include free Internet
software, low-cost, local Internet access in nearly every city and
value-added services, such as the ability to create personal home pages.
SPRYTE will also include three free hours of Internet access for $4.95 a
month. Additional hours will be charged at $1.95 per hour.

Worldwide Global Access

Through CompuServe's global network, SPRYTE customers can make local
Internet access calls in more than 96 percent of the United States and
overseas in numerous cities such as Brussels, Tokyo, Paris, Copenhagen,
Berlin, Bogota, Moscow and more.

"Our breadth of network coverage is second to none," said David Pool,
executive vice president of Strategic Development for CompuServe. "Using
the same worldwide presence developed for our Information Service,
CompuServe is now making the Internet affordable for everyone. We have
reached the market first at a price point which our competitors will find
hard to match because we are leveraging the infrastructure and
technologies that we have already developed in our network and information
service businesses."

Browse, Build on the World Wide Web and Send E-mail

SPRYTE comes with free Internet software including SPRY Mosaic, SPRY Mail
and CompuServe's latest Internet creation, the Home Page Wizard. The Home
Page Wizard allows users to stake their claim on the Internet by
eliminating many of the hassles associated with designing and submitting a
home page -- the document on the Web which represents a person, family or
company.

SPRY Mosaic, available as a 32- and 16-bit Web browser, allows users to
browse the Web and access various information on topics such as sports,
entertainment, music, shopping and computers. With a simple click of a
button from the SPRY Mosaic toolbar, users have full capabilities to send
and receive e-mail from anywhere in the world.

In addition, SPRYTE will include value-added components such as
directories, Web searching capabilities and HOTLand, a "What's New"
directory service on the Web.

Further consumer-oriented features will be announced soon.

Pricing

SPRYTE will cost $4.95 per month for the first three hours of connect time.
As users grow from novices to power Internet experts, they can move up to
the "Silver Surf Club" at $9.95 per month for the first seven hours or the
"Gold Internet Club" at $19.95 for the first 20 hours. Additional hours
for all pricing plans will be charged at $1.95 per hour.

Availability and Distribution

CompuServe's new Internet service will be available at the end of the year.
Consumers will be able to receive a free disk giving them access to SPRYTE
by contacting CompuServe at 1-800-557-9614 x26 or spryte@spry.com.
