FROM MOZART TO MULTI-MEDIA

Versatile CD-ROM Player For Dell Latitude Notebook Computers Doesn't
Compromise Superior Battery Life

AUSTIN, TEXAS, October 2, 1995 -- Until now, listening to Mozart or editing
a multi-media presentation on a notebook computer while traveling meant
business people had to power down long before reaching their destination.
Dell Computer Corporation (Nasdaq: Dell), the leading direct marketer of
notebook computers, today began offering a double-speed portable CD-ROM
player that doesn't compromise the superior battery life of its Dell
Latitude notebook computers.

The Sony PRD-155SB portable CD-ROM player weighs 12 ounces and is powered
by its own two AA-sized batteries. It is currently available direct from
Dell for $499 including speakers and PCMCIA card. When combined with the
Dell Latitude LX notebook PC, prices start from $2499 - setting a new
price/performance level for CD-ROM equipped notebooks.

"This external CD-ROM offering makes sense for mobile professionals and IT
departments. For instance, it can be shared among users irrespective of
the Dell Latitude model they are using and is compatible with many other
notebook brands. And, when you are not using it for business, it doubles
as a stand-alone audio CD player", said John Medica, Dell's vice
president, portables. "Moreover, it doesn't compromise our goal of
delivering dependable notebooks with superior battery life", Medica
added.

The installation utility and necessary software drivers are pre- installed
by Dell when customers order a system and CD-ROM player, enabling users to
plug the Sony PRD-155SB External CD-ROM into one of the Latitude's two
PCMCIA card slots and instantly play the latest games, business
applications, photo and music CDs. For presentations to large groups, a
line-out jack enables additional speakers to be connected. Running on
AA-sized batteries, the Sony PRD-155SB External CD-ROM drive doesn't
compromise any of the Dell Latitude family's superior battery life,
dependability, or weight.

A Fortune 500(R)(TM) company, Dell Computer Corporation is the world's
leading direct manufacturer of computer systems and one of the largest PC
