New Active-Matrix Displays And Refresh Of Dell's Latitude LX Line

AUSTIN, TEXAS, October 2, 1995 -- Dell Computer Corporation (Nasdaq: DELL),
the leading direct supplier of notebook computers, today announced it has
begun shipping two new models in its award-winning Dell Latitude portable
family - both featuring enhanced active-matrix displays providing crisper,
brighter images.

Independent research shows that a notebook PC's display is one of the most
important features customers consider when purchasing a portable
computer(1). In response, Dell has introduced high-resolution SVGA active-
matrix displays in its Pentium notebooks - the Latitude XPi line, and has
added a new active-matrix display to its 486 notebooks - the Latitude LX
line.

The new models are: Dell Latitude XPi P90ST -- A SVGA active-matrix color
display packing the resolution of most desktop monitor screens into a
10.4-inch package allows users to view 50% more information than a
standard notebook VGA display(2). The Dell Latitude XPi featuring the SVGA
active-matrix display, an Intel 90MHz low-power Pentium processor with up
to a 1.2 GB hard drive is ideal for business and sales people requiring
desktop performance while on the move. Pricing for the Latitude XPi P90ST
starts at $4,299 with 8MB of memory, a 420MB hard drive and a three-year
extended warranty*.

Dell Latitude LX 4100T -- Setting a new price/performance level for
active-matrix display notebooks, the Dell Latitude LX 4100T features a
10.4- inch active-matrix color display, an enhanced IntelDX4 100MHz
processor with Level 2 cache to provide customers with a full-featured
notebook starting at $2,299 with a one-year on-site warranty. All Dell
Latitude LX systems now come standard with 8MB of memory and 420MB hard
drive enabling customers to run today's graphical operating systems and
applications more easily.

Dell also announced today it will offer an external Sony double speed
portable CD-ROM player with integrated speakers for $499. It is compatible
with the entire Dell Latitude notebook family and is ideal for multi-media
presentations.

Dell offers a complete range of notebooks providing industry-leading
battery life for mobile users. The Dell Latitude XPi line is designed for
corporations and professionals seeking easy LAN connectivity and Pentium
processor performance without sacrificing battery life or paying a premium
price. Dell's Latitude LX line is aimed at mobile users in small-to-medium
office environments as well as consumers looking for the best combination
of performance and value for their money. All Dell Latitude notebooks can
be ordered with Windows 95 and other software factory-installed.

Dell offers a three-year extended warranty across its entire line of
notebook PCs with services that include next-business-day on-site service
