NEMA 4X Factory-Floor Display "Sealed-in Steel"

VideoLink Enhances Digital Video Performance from CRT Video Inputs

Fremont, CA, October 16, 1995 -- Today, Dolch Computer Systems introduced
the PanelMount, a NEMA 4X plug-and-play industrial display specifically
designed to replace heavy, power consuming CRTs. PanelMount boasts
VideoLink, a unique video input translator designed to vastly improve
digital video clarity with analog inputs. VideoLink "locks on" to the
analog input signal, normally directed to a CRT, and automatically
converts it to the precise synchronized drive for the digital color
flat-panel.

Dolch crafted the PanelMount by leveraging its world class expertise in
rugged portable computers and displays to create the bullet-proof
reliability and process-critical dependability demanded in harsh
industrial environments. PanelMount's stainless steel case is
vault-like-perfect for contaminate rich environments like food processing,
rolling mills and foundries. It is impervious to post-process hosedown and
collateral corrosion. Available in a wide range of display sizes and
resolutions, the PanelMount provides flush-mount form, fit and function
compatibility with existing systems. For new installations, improved space
and power efficiency with ease of integration and software compatibility
make the PanelMount a natural.

Flicker-Free Viewing with VideoLink

Unlike other displays, Dolch's PanelMount employs a proprietary analog
input translator based on in-house developed VideoLink technology Its
autosensing phase-lock-loop combined with an advanced high-bandwidth A/D
converter completely eliminates the video noise and flickering common to
other displays, vastly improving viewing clarity. The VideoLink translator
"tracks" the analog input signal, switches to the proper frame rate, and
performs a discrete pixel by pixel transform on the image. Like a
surgeon's scalpel, this process excises the ghosting, jitter and blur
common to other techniques. Direct plug-and-play set-up from any
computer's standard video signal eliminates the need for additional
converter boards, special cables or software-improving reliability and
reducing installation complexity. To ensure compatibility, Dolch has
validated the PanelMount's video signal compliance with over 100 different
VGA, SVGA, XGA, NTSC and Mac II display boards and their software drivers.
Operating system and shell validation includes DOS 3.X to 6.X, Windows
3.X, Windows 95, Windows NT, Xwindows, RTX, QNX, UNIX, and System 7.

NEMA Class 4X Protection, Plus

Sealed in type 304 vanadium stainless steel-a wrap of protection that
defies splashing water, blowing dust and fibers and flying and dripping
liquids -- PanelMount challenges the harshest industrial environments.
Developed to be compliant with a NEMA 4X designation, the PanelMount
conforms to the standards of ANSI/NEMA 250, EEMAC, UL 50 and CSA C22.2 No.
94 -- all at operating temperatures from 0 to 50 degrees C. To protect
against the common hazards of the factory environment, an "optically
clear" polycarbonate cover protects the TFT display screen from incidental
impacts and falling objects. The enclosure's "flush-fit" design and
shallow panel depth conserves rack space while preserving a system's
original surface profile freeing up work space.

C3R - Clarity, Contrast, Color & Resolution

Specify the PanelMount's display from a range of high clarity Active Matrix
panels sized from 10.4 inch to 14.2 inch. Spatial display resolutions are
available up to 1024 x 768 pixels-a comparable CRT resolution of 0.0081
inch dot pitch. PanelMount's TFT panels provide extraordinary definition
and brightness along with contrast ratios to 60:1 making them strikingly
vivid and easy to read. Dolch's exclusive 24-bit VIPER color controller
enhances color depth far beyond the usual washed-out look. Using VIPER,
the PanelMount displays 262,000 simultaneous colors from a palette of 16.7
million. When combined with a side-to-side viewing angle of well over 90
degrees, Dolch C3R display technology rivals the best of high-end CRTs.
