FULCRUM ANNOUNCES SUPPORT FOR ADOBE ACROBAT

Text Filter for Adobe PDF File Format Is First Outcome From Fulcrum's
Teaming With Merex

SEYBOLD CONFERENCE, SAN FRANCISCO, SEPTEMBER 26, 1995 -- Fulcrum
Technologies Inc. (NASDAQ: FULCF) and MEREX, Inc. today jointly announced
that Fulcrum will offer a text filter for Adobe's Portable Document Format
(PDF) files for the next version of Fulcrum SearchServer, the company's
flagship content-based retrieval software. The PDF text filter, developed
for Fulcrum by MEREX, will allow SearchServer users to input, index,
search and retrieve documents in PDF format.

"The development of the PDF text filter is very exciting and it's what
customers have been asking for," said Peter Eddison, vice president of
marketing at Fulcrum. "This filter means that customers will be able to
index and search document collections that include PDF files, in addition
to the document formats we already support, including all the major word
processing formats and common office software formats. This is part of our
efforts to continually enhance our products to respond to our customers'
evolving market needs."

Eddison added: "The PDF text filter demonstrates Fulcrum's ongoing
commitment to provide products that meet the needs of organizations
implementing online publishing applications. Clearly, support for Adobe's
publishing products is key. MEREX's expertise in Adobe integration is
second-to-none, and we are pleased to be working with them on this
project."

"We think that our relationship with Fulcrum has great potential," said
Richard M. Tworek, president of MEREX, Inc. "We already have a strong
relationship with Adobe, and Fulcrum's position as a leader in the
client/server market for retrieval software makes it a natural partner for
us. Both Adobe and Fulcrum deliver products with open architectures, which
makes them easy to work with. We have many Adobe customers who have been
looking forward to this type of news."

Since 1983, Fulcrum Technologies has been a leading vendor of text-
retrieval software because of the strength of its core indexing and
searching engine, its open systems strategy, and its tools approach. Used
