GATEWAY 2000 EXTENDS FREE SUPPORT ON ALL PC PURCHASES

NEXT BUSINESS DAY ON-SITE SUPPORT TO ALL CUSTOMERS, LIFETIME SUPPORT ON
HARDWARE AND SOFTWARE, INCLUDING WINDOWS 95.

From 1st October 1995 in (local country), Gateway 2000 will increase the
level of its customer support services with a comprehensive range of
offerings available on all Gateway PC purchases. At a time when other PC
vendors are cutting back on free service and support, Gateway customers
will benefit from a level of support service unmatched by its competition,
as standard features with all Gateway PCs. These features include one
year's free next business day on-site hardware support and free lifetime
technical phone support on hardware and all Gateway supplied software,
including Microsoft/Windows 95. The new support services will be fulfilled
by ICL Sorbus across Europe, following the establishment of a partnership
between the two companies.

"When many PC vendors are reducing the level of their support offerings and
even charging for software technical support calls, Gateway is happy to
buck the trend and add more support options, not less," said Ted Waitt,
Gateway chairman and CEO. "Gateway is the only company in the industry to
announce a support programme with this level of service as standard on all
its PCs. We can achieve this whilst maintaining highly competitive
prices."

Standard features of Gateways support programme include:

 Free lifetime technical phone support for Gateway PCs and all Gateway
 supplied software such as operating systems and applications.
 This includes free support for customers who have purchased Windows
 95 with their Gateway system. Gateway has increased its technical
 support staffing levels accordingly to meet the significant growth
 in customer support requirements.

 Gateway's standard parts and labour warranty, under which parts
 are replaced at no charge for the first three years and on-site
 service is provided free within the first year. Gateway support
 features free parts delivery within the warranty period.

 Gateway's standard one year on-site service warranty features a
 next business day response for all Gateway customers. According
 to the hardware repair requirement, a service representative will
 arrive at the time scheduled with the customer (within a 4 hour
 appointment window) on the next day following a troubleshooting
 conversation with a Gateway support technician. The requirement
 for on-site support will be at the discretion of the support technician.
 To qualify for next day service, the call must be placed prior
 to 4.30pm the previous day. For customers who purchase an Extended
 Same Day warranty, calls placed before 2pm can be serviced on
 the same day. The new on-site service is IS09000 certified to
 ensure customers receive the highest quality support.

 Extended on-site hardware support and diagnostics available from
 8am until 10pm, Monday to Friday and 8am until 8pm on Saturdays.
 Previously the service was available from 9am until 5pm only.

OPTIONAL PACKAGES FOR MISSION CRITICAL NEEDS

Gateway's on-site support includes a simplified range of optional packages
including `Gateway 3 Year Same Day' and `Gateway 3 Year Next Day',
designed to meet the needs of different customers. These optional packages
allow customers to upgrade from the standard 1 year on-site service to
three years of on-site service available on the same day, or next day,
depending upon the mission critical needs from their PCs.

PARTNERSHIP WITH ICL SORBUS

The new service levels are available as a result of Gateway 2000 reaching
an Extended On-site Service agreement with ICL Sorbus, which will carry
out on-site calls on behalf of Gateway in the future. With the new
agreement, customers need only place a single call to Gateway to gain
on-site assistance. Previously, it was necessary to return the customers
call to make an appointment. The service is available throughout (local
country). Gateway and ICL Sorbus will work together to develop other
service offerings for customers to extend Gateway's lead over the industry
in after sales service.
