GREYSTONE AND CONNER PERIPHERALS ALLY TO BRING DATA STORAGE EXPANSION TO
PCMCIA USERS

New DiskDock PCMCIA/IDE Interface Links Portable/Desktop PC Users To
Primary/Secondary Mass Storage, High Speed Backup at Low Cost Using 2.5 in
Drives

Los Gatos, CA -- October 23, 1995 -- Greystone Peripherals, Inc. announced
today a joint effort with Conner Peripherals, San Jose, CA, that allows
Conner's line of 2.5-inch disk drives to be utilized in the PCMCIA market
using Greystone's new DiskDock PCMCIA external hard drive adapter. The
alliance allows Greystone to coordinate sales through the retail and
distribution aftermarket and OEM channels.

Greystone, the leader in affordable PCMCIA accessories, is offering its
DiskDock adapter as a unique and totally compatible solution for
connecting external 2.5-inch drives to portable or desktop computers
through a PCMCIA slot. DiskDock was awarded Conner's Certificate of
Compatibility for its support of 2.5-inch drive products.

DiskDock allows 2.5-inch IDE hard disk drives to be used for external
primary and secondary data storage and high-speed data backup. The
inexpensive shirtpocket-sized device conveniently plugs into any PCMCIA
slot supporting Type I interface cards, using the host computer's power.
DiskDock is compatible with all platforms and 2.5-inch devices, allowing
drives to be moved from system to system and slot to slot, for true
plug-and-play.

"The DiskDock was designed as a storage adapter solution for the portable
computer market, about 85% of which can use low-cost-per-megabyte 2.5-in.
hard drives for storage overload due to limited space." said John Usher
Greystone's president.

Greystone's Model DD-95 DiskDock is immediately available direct from
Greystone at a suggested list price of $129, including adapter and cable.
In bulk pack quantities, the DiskDock distributor price is under $100.
DiskDock units are marketed to dealers, distributors, VARs/VADs, OEMs and
via telemarketing to the U.S. and overseas. Hard drive prices vary
depending on capacity.

The DiskDock links 2.5-in. hard drive storage capability to portable or
desktop computers in a variety of applications requiring an easy-to-use,
shirtpocket-size data storage expansion solution:

* Due to increasing memory demands on portables and laptops due to
megabyte-hungry user-friendly software, users have run out of room and
need to expand memory storage easily and inexpensively

* Also, CD-ROMs often displace hard disk drives in laptops, or limit drive
capacity, without any of the necessary expansion space inside a computer

* Desktop PC users using auxiliary 2.5-inch external hard drives as backup
through parallel or serial ports need faster, cheaper and more convenient
solutions than other backup methods available for the portable market

* Serial access backup, desirable for very large drives, is slower for
drives under 500MB; for example, to back up several hundred megabytes
using a PCMCIA-EIDE solution takes only about 20 minutes -- versus several
hours

* Users increasingly require secure -- removable -- data storage. The ideal
solution is to back up desktop/portable units through a PCMCIA slot onto a
small drive, which can then be securely stored.

Greystone Peripherals, Inc., founded in 1992 by industry veterans John
Usher and George Robinson, designs, manufactures and markets computer
peripherals. In addition to the CardDock family of reader/writers for the
PCMCIA market, its DataFast hard disk drive software duplication system
family is targeted to the software manufacturing market. The company is
located at 130 Knowles Drive, Los Gatos, CA 95030.
