New Feature on H.W. Wilson's WilsonWeb: Monthly Reviews by Award-Winning
Columnist James Rettig

October 6, 1995, New York, New York -- "Rettig on Reference," a review
service by award-winning reference columnist James Rettig, now joins other
attractions at WilsonWeb, (http://www.hwwilson.com), the new H.W. Wilson
worldwide web site. Rettig wrote the popular "Current Reference Books"
review column in Wilson Library Bulletin from 1981 through June 1995, and
holds a 1995 American Library Association (ALA) Louis Shores/Oryx Press
Award for distinguished contributions as a reviewer. Rettig is also editor
of Distinguished Classics of Reference Publishing, which won a 1993 ALA
G.K. Hall Award for library literature.

Each month, "Rettig on Reference" will feature about a dozen reviews on
WilsonWeb. Rettig will examine and analyze both new print reference
materials and World Wide Web reference sites. Reviews will be linked over
the web to publishers' web sites, when available, as well as to other
locations relevant to the review and subject matter. An index of reviews
by reference author and title will also be accessible at WilsonWeb, as
well as back reviews.

GraceAnne DeCandido, former editor of Wilson Library Bulletin and current
editor of WilsonWeb, will edit "Rettig on Reference." She commented, "With
Jim, Wilson is inventing a part of the future of reviewing. We are going
to take advantage of the unique capabilities of the world wide web to
enhance his reviews and make them even more useful for librarians."

"It's exciting to be part of this new venture," said Rettig, who is
assistant dean of University Libraries for Reference and Information
Services at the Earl Gregg Swem Library of the College of William and Mary
in Williamsburg, Virginia.

H.W. Wilson Vice President Harry Regan commented: "'Rettig on Reference' is
a service to the library community that we are pleased to provide without
charge on the web." WilsonWeb also provides product information and news
about H.W. Wilson, as well as other practical features for customers,
