Intergraph Launches ISMP6 servers with 133 MHz Pentium processor

HUNTSVILLE, ALA. SEPT. 25, 1995 -- Intergraph Computer Systems today
announced new versions of its InterServe Multiprocessor 6 (ISMP6) server,
with up to six 133 MHz Pentium processors. While offering even greater
server performance, the new configurations are priced identically to
previous 100 MHz offerings.

According to a recent AIM III performance benchmark (a standard industry
benchmark that gauges server performance), ISMP6 servers with 100 MHz
processor configurations ranked in the top four price/performance
positions. These benchmark results have been audited and accepted by the
AIM III Performance Council (winter edition).

"Our AIM III benchmark results demonstrate that the ISMP6 servers exceed
the performance of RISC machines without the hefty proprietary price tag,"
said Wade Patterson, vice president of Intergraph Computer Systems. "Our
ISMP6 servers use leading-edge, industry- standard components to deliver
some of the best price/performance numbers in the industry. The ISMP6
offers scaleability and expansion capacity unmatched by other servers in
its class. Customers can start with the configuration that meets their
needs today, with the assurance that their industry-standard system can be
easily expanded as their server needs grow."

The majority of high-level SMP servers deliver poor scaleability. However,
the ISMP6 achieves outstanding scaleability by combining fast buses and
large caches: A 400 megabyte-per-second CBUS-II multiprocessor bus
connects the multiple processors -- each with a dedicated 1 megabyte of
secondary cache -- and an industry-standard PCI bus links the I/O
subsystems, graphics, external SCSI-2 (8-bit), and internal Fast and Wide
(16-bit) RAID controllers.

Up to 48 hot-swappable SCSI-2 drives utilizing the de facto industry-
standard SCA technology assure high reliability. These drives can be
attached via four "stackable" disk array boxes in configurations with
redundant hot-swappable power supplies, hot swappable fans, and
server-monitoring hardware and software.

"Our focus has been to build Intel machines that rival RISC- based servers,
at pricing much more comparable to the standard Intel- based products,"
said Patterson. "By using 133MHz Pentium processors in this server, we
have achieved a performance level that will benefit cost-conscious
customers with demanding client/server requirements."
