Intusoft Celebrates 10 years & 14,000 SPICE packages

In August 1995, marking its 10 year anniversary, Intusoft shipped its
14,000th SPICE package. 10 years in the software business is no small feat
in the competitive EDA world. How was Intusoft able to achieve a nearly
40% annual growth over this 10 year period? They listened, researched, and
moved ahead of the pack. The Intusoft success is earmarked by many unique
characteristics.

"In the early years", states Sharon Niles, Intusoft's Director of Sales.
"Our customers told us they wanted a powerful and integrated circuit
simulation software package at a price even a consultant could afford. We
listened. But while cost was one component of a purchase decision, value
and performance were deemed just as important. Over the years, our
customers have come to trust Intusoft for our cutting edge technology as
well as an unbeatable price/performance ratio."

The R&D and technical support departments account for over 50% of
Intusoft's labor force. They have devoted themselves to bringing their
customers the latest SPICE enhancements, such as the first 32-bit DOS
version of SPICE, native mixed mode SPICE and an HDL code model
development kit. Intusoft has long been heralded as having the best SPICE
technical support. The Intusoft SPICE Newsletter, their widely distributed
FREE publication, is just another indication of their dedication to making
circuit simulation a more productive experience.

Intusoft is the only SPICE vendor to offer its registered customers a FREE
modeling service. Unlike other vendors that farm out service tasks
Intusoft, also offers its own on-site SPICE training classes. Over the
past 8 years, hundreds of engineers have taken advantage of Intusoft's
training seminars. Other technical support cervices include CompuServe and
Internet forums with free models, application notes, and free SPICE
software.

Intusoft was founded by it's current president, Larry Meares. In 1985, Mr.
Meares was looking for an affordable PC compatible SPICE simulator. He
couldn't find a suitable simulator, so he created his own. IsSpice, an
analog circuit simulation was ready to market in September 1985. At an
unheard of price of $95, IsSpice was quickly a best seller, selling over
800 copies by 1987. A companion post processor, IntuScope (called
SoftScope at the time) was also released in 1985.

A model library module program called PreSpice was available in May 1986
and SpiceNet, the first schematic entry program for SPICE was released in
November 1987. With the 1987 release of SpiceNet, the first integrated
SPICE design tool set was born. Called ICAP/2, formally introduced in
March 1988 for $790, was the first integrated package to include a
schematic entry front end, with model libraries, simulation and post
processing.

Many other firsts have followed since:

* First 32-bit SPICE program for DOS
* First commercially available version of SPICE based on Berkeley
SPICE 3E.2 with full SPICE 2 compatibility
* First and only Interactive SPICE 3 simulator
* First AHDL for SPICE available in the Windows environment.
* First Power Macintosh SPICE product
* First SPICE for Windows NT (x86, Digital Alpha, and MIPS platforms)
* First and only company to support ALL Macintosh platforms.
* First models for: IGBTs, SC filters, PWM Models, Fuses, Neural
Networks, Digital Gates, Thermal Models, and Lasers

Intusoft's next 10 years will also be filled with many firsts. For example,
Intusoft plans to release this fall an OLE2 modeling kit, and a
hardware/test interface for IsSpice.

Intusoft has sold it's ICAP packages in 64 countries. With 17 international
representatives, Intusoft is poised to become a worldwide standard.
Looking to the future, Charles Hymowitz, Intusoft's Vice President
reflects, "During the last ten years, Intusoft's growth has exceeded our
expectations. We began Intusoft in 1985 as a low cost SPICE software
alternative. Our goal for the next ten years is to provide our customers
with the most up to date simulation tools using the newest technologies
available."
