LEXMARK EXPANDS RETAIL OFFERING WITH TWO NEW INKJET PRINTERS

--COLOR JETPRINTER 1020 AND COLOR JETPRINTER 2070 INCLUDE CORELDRAW CD ROM
SOFTWARE AT NO ADDITIONAL COST--

GREENWICH, CONN., OCT. 23, 1995 . . . Lexmark International, Inc. announced
today that it is expanding its inkjet printer offering in the retail arena
with two new color inkjet printers for family or office users. The Color
Jetprinter 1020, available now worldwide, offers superior print quality at
an aggressive price rivaling any color inkjet printer on the market. The
Color Jetprinter 2070, available later this year, will debut with the
highest speed and print quality in Lexmark's highly acclaimed line of
color inkjet personal printers.

"The announcement of these two printers firmly establishes Lexmark's retail
presence with three color inkjet printers at price points comparable to or
lower than any similarly featured printers on the market," said Chuck
McNulty, Lexmark's Vice President for Worldwide Sales and U.S. Marketing
of personal printers. "These printers are fun and easy for the family to
use, yet can also produce business presentations with the same
professional flair as much more expensive products." In the past year
Lexmark has expanded from a handful of retail outlets to more than 3,000
stores and has seized a substantial share of the color inkjet market.

VALUE ADDED WITH CORELDRAW

Both new printers will ship with CD ROM versions of Corel's CorelDRAW to
provide home and business users with a popular graphics application not
available in the customized software that comes with some other printers
on the market in comparable price ranges. Lexmark's exclusive ColorFine
Windows drivers for the printers, jointly developed with Software 2000,
based in Oxford, U.K., offer a palette of millions of colors from
Lexmark's patented inks for remarkably rich color graphics and photo
quality images. The two printers use a Windows- based host-power printing
system for rapid return to application and are both work with Windows 95,
Windows 3.1 and Windows for Work Groups 3.11. They will also print from
DOS applications running under Windows.

COLOR JETPRINTER 1020

The Color Jetprinter 1020 debuts with an anticipated street price of $249
and is available for holiday shoppers at mass market outlets such as
Montgomery Ward, as well as electronics and computer superstores,
including Circuit City and Best Buy stores. Its introduction marks
Lexmark's most extensive penetration into the printer retail market it
entered full force a year ago with its popular ExecJet IIc, which the
Color Jetprinter 1020 will replace. The 1020's aesthetically pleasing
streamlined design has a footprint that is 36 percent smaller than its
predecessor.

The Color Jetprinter 1020 employs Lexmark's digital enhancement technology
to provide 600 x 300 edge sharpness in color or black, the same as
Lexmark's popular WinWriter 150c. To showcase the Color Jetprinter 1020's
vivid color capabilities, Lexmark has bundled it with CorelDRAW 3 graphics
package in CD ROM version, which sells for about $69 in retail stores, at
no extra charge.

Each Color Jetprinter 1020 ships with an economical high yield color
cartridge standard that can print process black text. Monochrome black
cartridges for printing true black are available and can be easily
interchanged with the color cartridges. Lexmark has included a handy
"garage" for parking the cartridge that is not in use.

Users can expect approximately 1,000 business pages from the black
cartridge at a cost of about 3 cents per page and more than 200 typical
color graphics pages at less than 19 cents per page. The Color Jetprinter
1020 produces about 2 pages per minute black letter quality. The average
color page takes two to four minutes per page.

In spite of its small profile and low cost, the Color Jetprinter 1020 can
accommodate a broad array of media types and sizes, from index cards to
legal-size sheets to coated papers. It features a 100-sheet input tray and
can also feed envelopes, labels and transparencies.

COLOR JETPRINTER 2070

The Color Jetprinter 2070 debuts with the highest speed and print quality
in Lexmark's popular line of color inkjet personal printers and is
targeted toward those home and small office users who need high quality
color graphics and images with the speed of a laser printer for producing
black text. It prints black draft at seven pages per minute, letter
quality black at six pages per minute and color pages at about one page
per minute. End users will appreciate its quick plug and play set-up, ease
of operation, and anticipated street price of only $479 when it becomes
available later this year.

Optimizing Lexmark's acclaimed color technology, the Color Jetprinter 2070
provides up to 600 x 600 digitally enhanced edge sharpness in black and
color printing on most plain papers, coated papers and transparencies. It
incorporates Lexmark's exclusive Air Brush halftoning technique to ensure
superior graphics and images. To showcase the 2070's graphics
capabilities, Lexmark has packaged it with Corel's CorelDRAW 4 CD ROM
version, which sells for up to $149 in some retail stores, at no
additional cost.

Users can expect at least 1,250 business pages in black text at a cost of
about three cents per page. The color cartridge will print about 200
typical color graphics pages at about 19 cents per page. Like Lexmark's
award-winning WinWriter 150c, the Color Jetprinter 2070 holds two ink
cartridges to eliminate the need for swapping cartridges to switch from
color to true black printing. It automatically switches from color to true
black printing in a document that requires both color graphics and black
text.

Accommodating a wide variety of media, from 9 x 14.33 inch sheets to
envelopes and index cards, the Color Jetprinter 2070 comes with a
150-sheet input tray and 50-transparency capacity.
