LOTUS SHIPS NOTESSUITE 2.0 FOR WINDOWS 3.1

WORD PRO AND NEW NOTESSUITE APPLICATION COLLECTION DATABASES OFFER ENHANCED
PROGRAMMABILITY FEATURES

CAMBRIDGE, Mass., Oct. 23, 1995 -- Lotus Development Corp. last week
shipped NotesSuite 2.0 for Windows 3.1, the complete desktop solution for
Lotus Notes users. NotesSuite 2.0 comprises SmartSuite 4.0 for Windows
3.1, a complete suite of desktop applications for users who work
independently or collaborate in teams; Lotus Notes 3.3, the industry
standard, client-server platform for developing groupware applications;
the NotesSuite Application Collection (NAC) 2.0, a set of ready-to-use
business applications; and in North America, a coupon for 30 hours of free
access to America Online's Internet access service, the Global Network
Navigator.

ENHANCED INTEGRATION BETWEEN WORD PRO AND THE NOTESSUITE APPLICATION
COLLECTION

The NAC databases have been reworked to take advantage of the enhanced
Notes/FX capabilities in Lotus Word Pro 96. Word Pro is the only word
processor that allows developers to exchange more than just textual field
information with Lotus Notes. Word Pro allows the exchange of frames,
table cells, headers, footers or even entire pages between a Notes
database and a Word Pro document, making it possible to build an entire
document from information stored in a Notes database.

NAC databases fall into five application categories including Introduction,
Library, Business Process, Information Services and Lotus Business
Partners. New to the Business Process category are the following two
databases.

* Sales Proposals -- A workflow application for creating and tracking sales
proposals and generating contracts. Through Notes/FX, users can access
information in 1-2-3 and Word Pro, and then use Approach to create
detailed reports. It gives users a tool to efficiently monitor future
sales and subsequently prepare inventories for upcoming product demands.

* Budget Planning -- Electronically tracks budget expense and revenue
forecast worksheets from creation to final approval by a workgroup of
Lotus Notes and 1-2-3 users. Budget Planning integrates the functionality
of Notes with 1-2-3 into a single, production-quality workflow
application. Enhanced reporting and analysis is accomplished through Lotus
Approach.

In addition to Word Pro, SmartSuite 4.0 for Windows 3.1 contains the 1-2-3
Release 5 spreadsheet, Freelance Graphics 2.1 presentation graphics
package, Approach 3.0 end user database, Organizer 2.1 group scheduler,
and ScreenCam 2.0, an interactive tool for creating ad hoc and formal
audio/visual presentations.

PROGRAMMABILITY ENHANCEMENTS FACILITATE DEVELOPMENT OF TAILORED BUSINESS
SOLUTIONS

NotesSuite 2.0 for Windows 3.1 features increased programmability through
enhanced Notes/FX technology, and the addition of full support for OLE 2.0
automation and LotusScript in Word Pro. LotusScript, Lotus'
object-oriented BASIC programming language, offers developers another tool
to create their own business solutions by enabling developers to automate
tasks, processes and the integration of data between Word Pro and Notes.
Since LotusScript is compatible with Visual Basic, developers can leverage
their existing code base to further integrate solutions between the
SmartSuite applications and Notes. By providing multiple integrating
technologies, Lotus has enhanced the existing NotesSuite programming
capabilities to provide users with a rich development environment.

"The NAC databases provide us with a great place to start when we create
new NotesSuite applications to manage workflow processes," said John Head,
product manager at Artron Products. "With the increased programmability
provided by Notes/FX and LotusScript, it will be even easier to tailor
business solutions to each of our customer's needs."

Beginning with the applications in SmartSuite 96 Edition for Windows 95,
scheduled to ship in November, LotusScript will be available as a shared
component across all of Lotus' Windows 95 applications. LotusScript will
be the scripting language in Notes Release 4 as well.
