LOTUS ANNOUNCES BETA AVAILABILITY OF LOTUS PAGES, X.500-BASED ENTERPRISE
DIRECTORY PRODUCT SUITE

ATLANTA, Sept. 26, 1995 -- Lotus Development Corp. today announced beta
availability of Lotus Pages, a suite of enterprise products that will
allow organizations with heterogeneous messaging networks to make their
directory information available through the X.500 industry standard for
directory messaging. Lotus Pages will initially support the Lotus
Messaging Switch (LMS), the industry's leading network backbone switch
used to link different electronic messaging systems.

Shown for the first time publicly at NetWorld+Interop, Lotus Pages uses
industry standard X.500 directory protocols to provide access to
distributed directories containing information such as user
identification, electronic mail addresses, telephone numbers and a wide
variety of other data. X.500 uses server-to-server and client-server
protocols to move directory information stored in the X.500 directory
information base (DIB) between servers as well as to provide access to the
desktop, either directly or through other applications. X.500 directory
knowledge can be distributed among an unlimited number of servers
worldwide.

"With the increasing growth of inter-enterprise messaging applications, all
enterprises need a way to exchange directory information," said Mike
Zisman, vice president of Lotus' Communications Business Group. "X.500 is
the only standards-based technology that delivers true interoperability
for directory data, thereby allowing organizations to productively deploy
applications across heterogeneous networking environments."

Lotus Pages consists of the following components:

* The Lotus Pages Directory Server: An X.500 (88) DSA licensed from Unisys
Corporation that also supports X.500 (93) DISP and Access Controls. The
Lotus Pages Directory Server uses an Oracle database for its data store,
which provides robustness, scaleability and improved performance.

* Lotus Pages LDAP Server: An integrated Lightweight Directory Access
Protocol (LDAP) server that enables access by low-cost TCP/IP-based user
interfaces.

* The Lotus Pages Synchronizer: A synchronization client that accepts
directory entries from the Lotus Messaging Switch Names Directory and
translates them into X.500 entries.

* The Lotus Pages Manager: An administrative, Motif-based interface between
the Directory server, LDAP Server and the Synchronizer.

* The Lotus Pages Directory Browser: A Windows-based information retrieval
tool that allows end users to navigate and interrogate the directory.

In addition, an interface is being provided to support the efficient
loading of directory entries from data sources other than the Lotus
Messaging Switch Names Directory into the X.500 DIB.

For the purposes of the beta program, Lotus Pages is available on a
pre-configured Data General Aviion 500 UNIX platform. When Lotus Pages
enters general availability, it will be available as a software- only
system on a range of additional platforms.

Lotus Pages will be generally available in Q1, 1996. Minimum requirements
